God alone knows what this was supposed to mean, but it is one of the classic nicknames of early baseball. Pabor played in the first all-professional game in history, and went on to a spectacularly bad career as a manager. In the 1875 season managing the Brooklyn Athletics he led them to a 2 and 40 record in his 42 games as skipper.

No idea what this is supposed to mean, but some of the most bizarre and best nicknames come from the earliest days of pro ball in the 1870's and 1880's- one guy was named Count Sensenderfer for some inexplicable reason. I think there was one guy on a team in Altoona Pa called "The Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress."

It doesn't exactly roll of the tongue, but "Old Man in the Red Cap" is deserving of five stars for the bizarre factor alone.

I'm sure a big tough footballer would like being called that, not! But since I don't know a lot about baseball, I'm going to have to give it a three, because it is probably a significant name.
