What is wrong with Jose Canseco where he finds it okay to narc out the rest of baseball? (empty pockets is numbah's guess)

There was never any doubt Major League Baseball had a steroid use problem. However, Jose Canseco is not the most credible person other than the fact he was (and is) an obvious abuser of illegal substances. But Jose Canseco proved to be a rat, making unfounded, unsubstantiated claims against his former teammates. Canseco helped sensationalize the whole issue with his supposed-tell all book about the abuses he saw and made a significant profit. Yet, his worthlessness as a human being was proven as it was uncovered he owed in unpaid taxes. It can be said then that he was willing to sell-out his friendships to save himself. But he only embarrassed the whole sport of baseball and himself. He was and is selfish.

The biggest non-story of the year. Stevie Wonder could tell you that steriod use is rampant. . .now the biggest ass in baseball is opening his big mouth. Canseco never did anything for anyone but himself, but I hope the book does lead to more stringent testing.

The guy's a sellout. He's hurting for cash, big time. His World Series ring is up for sale on his website for $40,000. He stated in his book that he never would have made the pro's if it weren't for steroids. Which is accurate, because a mediocre outfielder who hits .239 is nothing without home run power.

It's big alright. But why is this a story? It's like saying: Stop the presses. NBA players smoke marijuana. The thing I find incredulous is that people are stunned and shocked that this even happened. Under what rock do all these people come from? What brand of crack cocaine are people smoking? I know of dudes who participated in Division III wrestling that did 'roids [For 30 freaking minutes in 1979, I contemplated taking the 'roid to enhance my chance of making the varsity rowing team. I didn't when I correctly convinced myself it would not make a difference]. If dudes in DIII athletics are doing the 'roid, who will gain little more than whether or not they make Sectionals, then why are we screaming when Jose Canseco admits, without steroids, his batting stats would be more like Ozzie Canseco's. We're talking MILLIONS and FAME here. I just love that ESPN taking magpie heads, for years, were screaming MORE HOMERS, MORE HOMERS, MORE HOMERS, ESPN DEMANDS MORE HOMERS NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA. But as soon as Canseco squeals, who is leading the witchhunt. Of course ESPN NA-NA-NA NA-NA-NA 24/7. Round the clock coverage of this SCANDAL of SCANDALS Mike Greenberg squeals as he pulls makeup out of his man-purse. (Maybe this will allow ESPN to fill their programming void now that hockey is kaput). Baseball is a game of trends. The years 1963-1968 were the years when pitchers on mounds as high as Mount McKinley dominated hitters so badly, that just breaking the Mendoza Line in 1968 got you into the AL batting title chase. We can mark the years from 1987 to 2003 as the years that baseball players used anabolic drugs to hit more homers. Get real, Frank Howard, Boog Powell, and Harmon Killebrew were freakin' monsters and they couldn't hit 50 homers. But little Brady Anderson could. The only thing I will say on behalf of the players is that there were no implicit rules against it (nothing in the CBA). ESPN knew it was going on but were not going to kill the golden calf. MLB knew and also did nothing as it brought back fannies to the seats after the strike of '94. All I can say is, when Barry Bonds hits his 756th homer, all of America can hold their noses in celebration.

This has been a pretty big story this year. It is pretty much the only thing concerning baseball outside of the Yankees and Red Sox that is covered by the national sports media. Its a shame that instead of talking about current players, the media is focusing on a has been with no character who is trying to defame others who have achieved more than him.
