Yay!

Definitely appropriate considering its history. On a separate note, Texas is the only state I am aware of that has a pledge of allegiance to the State flag.

Since the Lone Star flag is ever present all over the state I'd say the nickname is very accurate.

It's very appropriate, that's where the brains of the people of Texas are.

Only state in the U.S. I think that has it's state flag on everything imaginable. Towels, sheet sets, toothbrush holders, automobiles, etc.

I don't really like Texas that much. But this is an appropriate name, and it makes its residents proud, like a state's nickname should.

My rating is much higher than just a lone star for the catchy name, memorable flag, and my fond memories of Texas cities I've traveled to (San Antonio, Dallas and Bryan).

Texas is the only state that was once an independent republic (a debatable arguement to some), hence the name Lone Star State.

Makes for a great state flag-but in the Big Sky of Texas,there's thousands of stars (unless you're in a polluted place with tons of artificial light,and Texas became miserably polluted under Bushs term as Governor.)

Sucky state name. They should just name it Capital Punishment state.

I like this one just because it makes a nice bold statement and translates well visually to the State flag.
