This can be an interesting hobby, but if you accumulate to many and have to move a couple of times, the sentimental attachment tends to weaken. I do still have the Playboy from Pamela Anderson's Playmate of the Month. On her questionnairre under her goals she said, To be a good wife and mother and win an Oscar. You can make your own joke up from there.

Although you may have to have a lot of room in your house to do this, old magazines can be very interesting. I once had a TV book from 1997 and even that looked different to what we get today. They had slightly different shows and the layout was different. It would be really interesting looking at something 50 or 60 years old.

Although I do not collect these, I do have a few old copies of Life magazine from the 1950's. These are fascinating to look at and I am humored by the old advertisements.

I used to have a stackful of old Sports Illustrated magazines. But I sold them at a bookstore for money. Not because I love money, but why should I keep them at home when I'm not reading them? Someone else oughta get a chance to read them. Reading is good for your brains.

I have a small collection of automotive related magazines. Besides vintage hot rod and high performance magazines I have old trade publications (mostly repair related) going back to the 1930s and 1940s. It's eye opening to read about how service oriented the mechanics and shop owners were in those days. Repairing a car meant full customer care, not just mechanical expertise. Those who continue that tradition today make auto repair a genuine profession and not simply a trade.

I've collected Ring Magazine and Boxing Illustrated, and other Boxing magazine for years and have some going back to the thirties. I also have some vintage Field and Stream, and Outdoor Life dating back to the thirties as well.
