. . . with as many as I have, you'd think I DO actively try to collect. It's tough. I try not to, but if I see something cute in a store, I pick it up and hug it. Even if I try to put it back, my husband will buy it, anyway. And I can't bring myself to give them away, I've got stuff from before I can remember. I can't help it. A bit of trivia: There's actually a term for a collection of teddy bears. It's called a "hug". I'm not kidding.

I had no idea how popular a hobby this was until I was overseas. I made a small fortune selling Winnie-the-Pooh stuffed animals from Disney Stores in the Far East, on Ebay. From what I learned, the Disney Store intentionally releases certain "themed" Pooh dolls only in certain regions. This way they become rarer and, thus, collectors items. I regularly made a profit of about 250% on dolls that I bought for about 9 or 10 American dollars.

I had one. My cat must have been jealous of it, because he ripped it up.

This is OK because it would be interesting looking at all of those things which are meant to look like animals. Plus you can give them to your children.

I used to have stuffed animals. My momma gave me my first teddy bear in 1976. ... Since then, I gave it to Goodwill.
