Recruiting ability should keep him out of the basement in this category. . .but Weis the coach has cost ND two games this season (the Michigan game was a real back-breaker) and it seems that karma has caught up to ND for two blunders-1. Firing Willingham unceremoniously and callously even though he had the program moving in the right direction and 2. Giving Weis a completely undeserved contract extension after he was at ND for about. . .six weeks?Weis is out of excuses. . .he's been there long enough, and his head-scratching coaching moves are starting to hold the Irish back.

He's the best recruiter in the country. A top ten class every year but 2009, with the academic standards and geography of Notre Dame. He runs a sophisticated scheme with four super bowl rings and two bcs bowls to prove it. Finally, his teams have had above a 3.0 gpa every semester, he runs a charity, and embodies everything his school stands for.

First coach in the school's history to go 0-4. Those who preceeded him as coach and anybody who has ever played for them must be pissed.

Notre Dame should have never fired Willingham! Weis has been totally worthless!!! Notre Dame has not won a Bowl game in 10 years and at this rate it may be 10 more.

ok this man has impressed me. No matter how much hate I have for ole ND, you can't help but love Weis. Especially with the sick-boy story and then he is just a great coach how can you not love the guy. I am very intrested though in seeing how well he does in his second year. We all remember Willingham's second year.

Coach Weis had a very impressive first year at Notre Dame. While Notre Dame has had some good years since Lou Holtz left, this was the best looking offense that has been seen since then. With all of the hype around him and the program right now, I think he will do a great job recruiting, and will have a lot of success in the future.

Will bring Notre Dame back to glory. Already has proven he can be successful at EVERY level of coaching. Won a state championship as a high school head coach. Won bowl games at two different colleges as position coach. Was a position coach at four different positions in the NFL; coached a player to their first Pro-Bowl at each position. Two of those positions he also made the decision to draft that player. Oh, and he also got his first Superbowl ring here too. As offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, helped the Patriots win three Superbowls, and coached Tom Brady from obscurity to three-time SuperBowl MVP. Since taking over at Notre Dame, has recruited arguably the best class in the past 20 years this year, and the recruiting season is only half over. He has led the Irish to a 3-1 record, the only loss coming in overtime to the NCAA's most prolific offense, and compiling wins over a top 25 opponent and a top 5 opponent in the process. Has coached Brady Quinn and Darius Walker into Heisman consideration in 4 games. (Quinn currently 5th in Heisman race, according to ESPN.com) Within two years, everyone will know what I already do. He is the best coach in the NCAA.

COME ON PEOPLE. THIS MAN HASNT EVEN CAOCHED A SINGLE COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAME IN HIS LIFE HOW CAN HE BE THE BEST COACH IN FOOTBALL RIGHT NOW? THIS IS SCREWED BADLY. I BET HE WINS 4 GAMES THIS YEAR.

Who knows ? He hasn't coached a down of college football and should not be on this list until he a least has a year under his belt ! But,since he is on here you have to give him the benefit of the doubt by giving him an average 3 star rating.
