06/30/2008 | Update: Wow...its been over 5 years since I first rated this beer. First...I'm getting old, and second...I've been here on rateitall.com a long time. I'm finishing off a 6 pack of this right now, when I didn't intend to drink 6 beers. This isn't a beer I buy often, but it was the best option I could find at a local Latino bar and package store that was the only place open after I left work tonight. The fact that I drank all 6 beers in a couple of hours tells me that its easy to drink. It is a very easy beer to put down, yet is nicer in flavor than a Bud, Miller, or most other popular beer brands. Like other reviewers here I would have to say that this is my favorite mass produced, Mexican beer.
4/16/2003 - This is a quality beer. It has a nice dark taste, without the bitter aftertaste that many dark beers produce. Comparable to Michelob's Amber Bock, yet better.

05/09/2008 | I really liked Negra Modelo! I think it's one of the better Mexican beers, and often suggest it to others when they want something other than Corona.

10/31/2007 | This is absolutely the best Mexican beer out there......take that how ever you want to. I would drink this over Corona and Dos Equis any day but it's not my choice over English and Irish Stouts.

03/18/2004 | Good dark beer from Baja. Not quite as good as Bohemia, but a rather good second. Definitely worth trying. Rich with a crisp flavour. Not an overwhelming beer, but the aroma is deep enough. If Bohemia is not in the house, this is the one I go for with my fish tacos.

07/01/2000 | A very tasty Mexican beer. Tons of flavor without being heavy, and a nice dark color makes you feel like you're drinking something of substance. Better, but less circulated Mexican beers are Indio (which is similar in weight) and Victoria (which is a little lighter).

06/21/2000 | I had one of these a couple of nights ago and even though I know I've had it before I must've forgotten or else I would've ordered one everytime I've eaten Mexican food. Quite tastey. Smooth, amber, not nearly as light as a Corona but not to heavy either. Really a very pleasant and enjoyable drink. I was quite surprised.
