I have several friends who like it, but I will never understand why. It has a decidedly poor flavor, tastes as though it was aged in green wood, and makes my eyes and nose burn.

Fairly middle of the road Canadian. Plenty good for a mixed drink. Somewhat bland alone. Try the 8-year old version for a good Canadian. I would give that version four stars.

The reason a 1.75 is on sale for $12.99 at your local grocery is this stuff is crap. I thought it tasted like charcoal since I had just started a fire in my fireplace but the next day no fire and still charcoal. Terrible.

I picked up a 1.75L of this stuff on sale for $13. I was expecting it to be horrendous, and I was really surprised. If tried alone it's pretty harsh, but drank on the rocks it's surprisingly smooth for being so cheap. Mix it with coke and it's very drinkable. It's worth a try.

The nastiest of the many Canadian Whiskies I've drank (Straight up on the rocks only, never any mixers). Black Velvet is pure gasoline. The only thing smooth about it is it's name. I'll stick with Wiser's & Forty Creek.
