03/02/2005 | Unfortunately our jails are presently packed with these criminals and it's an absolute waste. When rapists are being paroled out of prison in some cases less than 3 years incarcerating someone for distributing high quantities of illegal drugs is a waste of jail space. First of all, the whole concept of the drug pusher is a myth. I can assure you at no point does a drug dealer have to PUSH his product on the unwillful public. The problem is the product he is selling is deemed a threat to society primarily because it's in such a HIGH demand. The demand can be controlled by various other means with reductions in the violence associated with drug traffiking. Our institutions should be reevaluated for the purpose of reducing drug usage and subsequent demand. The current system is a total failure on numerous levels.
