This is OK but it really depends on what occupation it is in eg if the leader was leading a whole bunch of scientists who were already experienced, then this is where the go your own way approach is good. But this certainly wouldn't be appropriate for people just starting work or people who aren't experienced. A leader must be willing to be a mentor and coach.

A leader will hire his people with this in mind. Entry level types cannot be treated this way but someone who is being paid for being experienced should be given the chance to go his/her own way until issues arise that dont allow it. Those who need to be micromanaged either need to be given less criticle resposibility or be given the boot.

Again, it depends on the situation, but this is good to some extent. In most cases, as long as the job is getting done and no rules are being broken, it's good to let people try their own thing. A leader does have to know when to reel someone back in when something isn't working.
