Motivation and enthusiasm are indispensable qualities of a good leader. How could any leader motivate any follower if he is not motivated? A leader leads by example.

This would have to be one of the most important characteristics because without motivation, they will be apathetic. Plus a motivated person will care about their job and doing the job properly and care about the people under them.
