Sparky is the salt of the earth and great at the same time.

While I was in fifth grade, Sparky Anderson came to my gradeschool to give an inspirational speech for the kids. Although I forget most of the details of his talk now, I do remember his humble, no nonsense, candid style, and found him to be extremely approachable, at ease and comfortable with young people. Anderson did not disappoint that day, and although in truth Little League baseball was my second sport, I was so impressed by his classy style it didn't really matter, as he certainly left a great impression upon me.

Great,storied career!Can't wait to be at the ceremony honoring him in Cincinnati on May 28th.It is long overdue.

Sparky is the second best manager of all time. Look what he did with the Big Red machine and then went to Detroit and made them a winner.
