Love Jack! plain and simple, this is one of the best (if not the best) American Whiskey on the market. The standard Jack & Coke is one of the tastiest mixed drinks around, and even straight or on the rocks Jack is good to go. My wife (not a big whiskey fan because she thinks most of them harsh) can even do a shot of jack with me and my buddies and enjoy it. JD is not a fancy whiskey, and many will look down their noses at it, but it is just like America itself, rugged, independant, unique, not overly refined, but exceptional none the less.

Only suburban margarita dad's call this their brand of whiskey, at my waterin' hole you'll get shot for asking for it quicker than you would for cheatin' in texas hold 'em.

Jack Daniel's Whiskey is filled with Alcoholic Flavor, turning the taste buds and exciting them. I don't know the special recipe, but they DO IT RIGHT. I enjoy 4 or 5 shots of this stuff straight or with some pop to chase it. Good warm, good cold. Don't drink that Canadian stuff and expect it to be the same as some good ol' Jack's. Jack's taste is much better And the buzz, gets you going nice. The price is normally a bit more expensive than some other whiskeys but, it is worth it for quality taste and a great buzz. I enjoy Jack Daniel's!

I enjoy Jack Daniels mixed with 7Up. I don't really like either drink by itself, but for some reason they taste good together. Does this mean I have bad taste? Probably.

I think there are people that really have to get there taste buds checked out for 5 reasons.. 1 This stuff taste like pure gasoline. 2 My grandfather did not even drink this crap.! 3 Its only somewhat drinkable if you use 99.9% coke and the rest jack daniels. 4 Is this not what the people drank back then when they wanted there life to end sooner.! 5 You can make jack daniels at your house get some vodka a used tire and a little skunk roadkill and boil that crap up and you dont have to go out and pay your hard earned money for some monkey urine....! Just saying..

I know there are a lot of JD fans out there and I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers, but I think there's a lot of better drinks out there. I did my own blind test with Jim Beam, W.L. Weller, Wild Turkey, and JD. 1) Jim Beam (Black) 2)Wild Turkey (101) 3) Weller 4) JD. Didn't test Old Grand Dad, but I bet he would of been proud if I had. The old Turkey is a good one. If I had tested about 10 brands, I probably wouldn't have cared how it turned out.

First of all, by definition and by U.S. Law, Jack Daniels is NOT Bourbon. If the label doesn't SAY "Bourbon," then it is NOT Bourbon. Bourbon is the single most regulated alcoholic beverage on the world market. Jack Daniels, like other non-Bourbon "whiskies" (Early Times, Seagram's Seven, Crown Royal, and other bottom shelf brands) are not so heavily regulated and are not permitted to call their products "Bourbon." Bourbon is made from a mash of not less than 51%, and not more than 79%, corn. The remainder of the mash consists of other grains like rye, barley and sometimes winter wheat. (Jack Daniels is not restricted to these limits.) Bourbon is aged in "new, charred, white oak barrels." Jack Daniels, not being Bourbon, may age their product in used barrels. By U.S. Law, the flavor and color of Bourbon cannot be altered. These other "whiskies" can and do alter their flavor and color by adding caramel colorings, food dyes, artificial flavorings, and other additives. Mature purchasers h... Read more

Chase it with a Bud Lite and you have the makings of a truly awful drinking experience. Along with Jim Beam it's the choice of unsophisticated palates and Hair Metal fans everywhere, but I'm repeating myself there.

Let me preface this with "to each his own" but JD to me taste like ass.(not that I know what ass exactly tastes like) but I just dont like the taste. it reminds me of Lord Calvert and such,Much too strong for me I guess.

Ok....my last review on good ol' jackie was in 2006....and it was harsh....to harsh. While I will never order it if i don't have to....it is better than "others" that I won't order if I don't have to. Jack is really the "Budweiser" of bourbons....it is usually the first bourbon you drink. In a pinch it works, but go a little bit higher on the ladder and you'll enjoy some really good bourbons!!

I cut my whiskey teeth on liters of old #7. Unfortunately the honeymoon phase of this one wore out really fast. 1 thing I will say positive about old #7 is it began my whiskey adventure and search for different whiskies. Sadly I'll probably never drink it again.

Jack Daniels is overrated whiskey that pales in comparison to so many other brands. I never thought I enjoyed whiskey as all I ever had was JD. I then tried Maker's Mark, Pendleton and Blanton's. Once I tasted good quality whiskey I realized that it was just the near bottom shelf flavour of JD I didn't like. Note: Gentleman Jack is not the same as the Jack Daniels Old No. 7 that I'm reviewing and is much better.

Although I am completely of the opinion that Jack Daniels is an overrated whiskey, it is obvious as soon as you break the seal and take the first whiff that this is a fine quality whiskey with a history to match. I would recommend that whiskey drinkers who prefer Jack Daniels expand their palates and try something new and to those who never have tried it...do so soon!

this is one of my favorite 'angry' whiskeys . it is also one of my favorite 'slosh' whiskeys. aside from those pieces of data- the flavor is astounding, and excellent mixer, and excellent chaser* ;] top notch stuff, gentleman jack is also ranked quite high on my list of whiskey and i've had many.

Jack Daniels is not the best "bourbon" on the market, but it is very far from the slander some here have thrown at it. Would I rather have Bookers, Woodford, or Makers? Sure. Those brands are often not available though and I'll take JD over other widely distributed bourbons like Jim Beam or Wild Turkey. Jack has a very unique flavor I just like, Gentleman Jack I love. Last, Jack Daniels with Coke is probably the best mixed drink out there.

Jack Daniels is delectable. Smokey, edgy, and classic. Drink it straight, mix it with coke, ginger ale, or pour it on your cereal in the morning. De-lish.

Just can't go wrong with this, first and only whiskey I drink. Jack & Coke is my favorite! Strong but sort of sweet, not harsh like Jim Beam. Makers is good too, but Jack is always what I reach for! And no Jack is NOT a bourbon, its Tennessee whiskey, dammit!

Classic beverage. Say what you will, but a home liquor cabinet just looks incomplete without a bottle of JD.. THAT SAID!!! I haven't drank it but once since drinking a 1.75 of it in an evening. Not the worst, but not the best liquor in the world, far better things to drink for less money. Expand your horizons boys and girls.

I have drank many gallons of JD over the years, why the heck did it take me so long to find GOOD American Whiskeys. For a couple of bucks Makers Mark is by far much better, for a bit less Elijah Craig 12 year old can be had in my town and is again much better. If your going to mix your wiskey why pay a premium price???? You JD Coke drinkers try Evan Williams. A friend gave e a bottle of JD Black and the only way I could handle the stuff was to drink it mixed. Too you JD drinkers broaden your sampling.

Although I am not the biggest whiskey fan I do mildly enjoy Jack. I really enjoy the drunk I get from Jack Daniels. Its also a good drink to mix with coke. The worst part is you get hung over worst then Michael Jacksons kids. Except they get hung over balconys.

Smooth and velvety. Definite charcoal taste. Buy something cheaper to mix. It is too expensive, particularly after the proof was lowered to 80. JD marketing is brilliant.

Of the American variety of "whiskey's", I have found Jack Daniels "Old No 7" to be the best mixer out there, even given the fact it's a little pricier than a lot of the imports - try it with ice tea for something refreshingly different. This is a top notch beverage at Country Jam & Rock Jam - or any other music festival Jack is sponsor of!

This is not bourbon, so it should not be considered the same whiskey. Jack is sweet, easy to drink and hard to dislike. The Green Label is horrible..should be outlawed. The Black Label is much better. Gentleman Jack is softer and better still. But JD Single Barrel is absolutely superb. Each batch is slightly different, but all are rich in color and rich and mellow in taste. The best Tennessee Whiskey there is. Single Barrel rates 5 stars.

I'd go for a 4.5 star on this one. Jack on the rocks is a great drink, and is very smooth. I've had other Whiskies and this is the best (so far) and who doesn't love the sight of that bottle? Very good if your a whiskey person.

Folks, to set the record straight, Jack Daniels is not bourbon in the first place. Kentucky whiskey is what you would call bourbon, Tennessee whiskey is a special genre of whiskeys that uses a sour mash distilation technique. I enjoy the mapley flavor, so quit razzing. This is good whiskey, it's only made out to be an image wh*re because people make it out to be. IF it weren't a good whiskey, how did I survive all this time??
