If Johnny Cash could be in the Rock 'N Roll hall of fame, surely Conway belongs there. Why are so many organizations against Conway receiving due honor? The CMA, R & R Hall of Fame, Rolling Stone, etc. ignored the greatest of all singers. Is it ignorance, jealousy or what?

i have been a conway twitty fan since i was in junior high some 30 years ago. I have heard every song he has ever had. from mgm to warner brothers records. rock to country to xmas to gospel. his only great rock n roll song was it's only make believe. though it was huge song probably top 50 of all the golden oldies. he is my all time favorite artist. but i don't think he belongs in the rock and roll hall of fame. and yes they can play conway at my funeral. it's goodbye time, would be great. thanks

I think this man deserves whatever honors he can. He was unfortunately taken from us far too early-as well as my granny who loved his music very much. His songs were the only music played at her funeral March 2, 2007. It was beautiful and so meaningful. He was a rocker and a country star. Take a look at his past. He was rock first, then country.

Yet another case of "What qualifies you for the rock hall of fame?" Conway Twitty was an extremely successful recording artist, and I would say that he has significantly influenced music today. So if being strictly rock is important, then no (Twitty started out as rock but was unsuccessful), but if having major influece in any of the several major genres of modern popular music qualifies one for the hall of fame, then I think that a case can be made for Conway Twitty.

Conway first struck the rock and roll top 40, while Elvis was serving in the Army, IT'S ONLY MAKE BELIEVE, followed by OH DANNY BOY. His sound was so rich and full, the Elvis people took note. He followed with LONELY BLUE BOY, and MONA LISA. All of these songs were certified top 40 RR hits. Not a bad collection. Had he stay the course, he might be in the RR Hall. With the music trends changing, ie; BRITISH INVASION...Conway moved over to the contry side, where he enjoyed years of success and Grand Ol Opery recognition.

But isn't he already in the Grand ole' Opry. I think that means he can't be in the Rock and Roll hall of because HE'S A COUNTRY ARTIST.

Although he started off in the late 1950s as a rockabilly artist his songs soon crossed over into the country music charts and it was in that genre that he enjoyed great success. His name was a play on words, taken from Conrad Birdie, the main character in the play (and later movie) Bye-Bye Birdie and Birdie was a take-off on Elvis. Twitty was a legend in country music until his premature death and he deserves his place in the country music hall of fame, not rock and roll.
