i have 10 or so different versions floating around my bookcases. I love my trusty old King James, but often read NASB as well or one I have with 3 translations side by side. I dont just have them to collect them for the sake of it - I read them, but I have to admit I would have a 1611 original if I could (not that it would be too easy to read)

My brother-in-law collects them but the only parts I enjoy about them are some of the illuminations.

If you collect Bibles without reading them, then what have you accomplished?

I only need one copy of the Bible. No need to collect any, especially because mine is marked and has notes and scripture chains in the margines.

Ahh. . .this one is rather underrated. I used my grandmother's dusty King James version to get me through two theology classes and I would read the text side-by-side with a modern American translation version to compare and contrast the texts. Good research and reading. . .good books to collect to say the least.

This is a good hobby. It is interesting how some people decorate their Bibles. I once saw a white covered Bible with the usual gold at the sides. I have a few versions - Kind James, New International version, New American standard and Amplified Bible. I will start collecting more types eg the ones with theological reviews and notes. That sounds like it could be interesting. The Amplified Bible has a great reference part. It just about has every key word in the Bible with every scripture relating to that word.

I have about 5 bibles but I don't have them just to collect them. The one I use the most is a New King James Study Bible my grandparents gave me before my trip to the philippines last June.
