He's a very good reviewer. I can tell by the way he writes his reviews he has a good heart. I also love the fact that he is a family man. I see a person that's devoted and full of compassion.

10 stars: What can I say about Randyman that hasn't already been said. He is an excellent insightful writer. The numbers don't put him at the top of the HOF list but Randy is a giant at this site.

Randyman is the quintessential boxing historian- and an all-out knowledgeable RateItAll Reviewer. What he writes, at the very least, provokes a lot of thought. Keep up the great work, Randyman! And welcome back!UPDATE: Randyman might be a great reviewer, but he's an even better person!
irishgit 05/26/2008
Worth 5 stars for his boxing reviews alone.
One of my favorite reviewers, a proud, tough man, with a voice of simple eloquence. I've felt a sense of kinship to this guy ever since he first showed up here.

UPDATE 2: Randy is a special kind of reviewer. He is a class act and I appreciate his view of the world. He doesn't come across as trying to be something he's not. He's a genuine guy with a love for the Lord, his family and life. UPDATE: Randy will be missed on RIA. He was very unique and had a lot to offer. He did not bring anger and find fault with other reviewers. He rose to the top of the RIA food chain very fast and it only reflects as to the kind of person he is, which is a warm, friendly and caring individual. ORIGINAL MESSAGE: I like his reviews and appreciate his positive nature. God bless you Randy!

A solid, down to Earth, sensitive and wise reviewer. My respect and gratitude is well deserved..

A RIA heavyweight, Randy is "Americana"- a principled man who loves his family and his country, as well as a fantastic reviewer.

I've had rather limited interaction with this reviewer, as our interests usually don't seem to be especially close. However, his knowledge of boxing is astonishing -as are his cooking reviews and remarks on comic book characters, among other things: and you can also expect a solid, well thought out, and engaging review every time. And more importantly, you can tell from his remarks that he's a classy, friendly, dignified and gracious individual.

. . .one name I actually recognize. . .nice guy, knowledgeable in a real-world kinda way, polite - would probably be a great guy to have a beer with. . .you can disagree with him and it's not the end of the world. . .wish my neighbors were like this. . .
Vudija 02/25/2007
Smart, straight forward, an all around great reviewer on a variety of topics. Believe he took a break for awhile, but I'm glad to see he's come back to join us.

Informative, entertaining reviewer. Even when we disagree on an issue, I've never detected any rancor or venom in anything he has to say.
HistoryFan 03/02/2006
I give Randyman credit. He's an excellent Rateitall.com reviewer.

** I'm sorry, but not surprised, to see that Randyman has moved on (or is at least taking a break) after that nastiness on the race list. It's weird how some people don't like to see their heritage systematically and relentlessly bashed. Sadder to me were those that wouldn't acknowledge a fellow American's pride in his heritage, beyond the "statistics." Free speech is a responsibility folks, as is coexisting in a community - even an online one like RateItAll. ** Randyman is a really solid reviewer. Any of his stuff on boxing is must read for the occasional boxing fan like myself. He also wrote two of my all-time favorite reviews on the site - his review of American Culture in the WebList, What Makes you proud to be an American, and his review of Rocky in drama movies. Quality stuff.

He's cool. He obviously knows what he's talking about, and argues his point intelligently and convincingly.

He's gone but he's not forgotten....

This will be my last post on Rateitall. I haven't been on in a while, but I thought I would make it official and say goodbye to all the great people that I've met here. Some of you have become very good friends and I will miss you. I'm leaving with no animosity and have no particular axe to grind, it's just time for me to leave. It's been a great experience here on RIA, a learning experience actually. God Bless you all and goodbye. ORIGINAL COMMENT: I found Rateitall by accident last year when I was looking for some information about a boxer. Rateitall came up, I registered and started rating. It took awhile to fully understand just what RIA really is. As I see it it's a place to have a little fun, give some opinions on things that you find interesting, and nothing to be taken too serious. As time went by I realized that RIA was really an online community, with people from across the country. In a way, this is a cross section of America and I think that is the most interesting aspect of RIA. Where else can someone talk to someone in Georgia, Boston or Detroit on a daily basis? What a chance to really learn about people. As far as RIA goes, I don't take it too serious, I'm not getting paid for my opinions so I don't feel bound by any rules or obligation to rate things that are of no interest to me. Sometimes something will jump out at me that I'll feel like commenting on and I'll run with it. I appreciate all the good comments and I hope that I've made some contribution to this site.
kattwoman 09/08/2005
i read his comments and they are very honest and he speaks with pride. he doesn't get pushed around easy and he responds without being rude. i find his comments that containing his hispanic culture very interesting and very informative.
souljunkie 07/18/2005
Have read enough to know that whether he is giving a positive or negative rating it is done with respect. I havent caught a rating for any issue that I deem as really contraversial, but I will be watching out for it. So many lists coming out nowadays are purely for conversation instead of those contraversial topics that make for much more interesting stuff.
louiethe20th 06/26/2005
The man deserves to be at the top of this list.Very enjoyable posts.Ebert and Louie give him two big thumbs way up!

Randyman is charging up my good list. He knows boxing like no other and has made a few cool suggestions for my weblists.
LanceRoxas 06/11/2005
I thoroughly enjoy Randyman's posts- particularly the ones on boxing, he has a wealth of knowledge about the sport. He surely has set an audacious pace with his posts but has been able to keep his normal substance the whole way. He's a true asset to RIA!
Jar-Jar Binks 05/24/2005
Sounds like a nice, decent reviewer. I just wanna thank him for his nice post about me. He is to boxing what I am to the NBA. ... Anyway to his answer his statements, he is right when he said I am an enigma. I am a mystery because of my past childhood. I wasn't part of the elite when I was in school and I had parents who didn't want to do much with me. But I had a good upbringing and my other relatives (grandparents, uncles and aunts) supported what I did in life. That's why I can be nice one day and ornery the next. Like Jimmy Carter.
minkey 05/12/2005
I'll join the Randyman fan club. It's hard to dislike his boxing reviews and comments on LA, even if you don't entirely grasp either one of them. He's a guy who clearly enjoys life and has some great stories.
texasyankee 04/29/2005
Comes across as a realistic guy who loves his family, boxing, cooking and eating. Very nice, was a pleasure talking to him and receiving encouragement for what I am going through with my daughter. Needs more Randymans in the world. I am afraid they're a scarce breed :)
X Factor Z 04/15/2005
I like this (good old boy's?) comments and that great Mexican food weblist.
alpepper 04/11/2005
I dig Randyman. He is the Ernest Hemingway of RIAers, saving his insightful comments for manly topics such as boxing and food, and eschewing dull rhetoric on politicians, religion, or whom his favorite Friends charcter was. From the things he writes about, I have the weird suspicion that somewhere in my youth in Philadelphia, we may have crossed paths.
defbean 03/20/2005
Great reviewer, his reviews are usually short, sweet and to the point. Seems like a good guy also.
CastleBee 03/11/2005
Another plain spoken, nice guy who has a lot to say and expresses it very well. Always an enjoyable read!
