As the French would say: "Mais non".

Ella Mae Morse was a crossover artist moving easily from the world of Swing (the Big Band era, see Miller, Dorsey, etc.) where she was successful, to the exciting new musical link between Swing and the fledgling world of Rock and Roll in the mid-1940's often known as Jump Swing or Jump Blues, where she had the original and seminal hit version, (and by far the best, in my opinion) of the influential "House Of Blue Lights" with Freddy Slack dramatizing on piano behind her, a song favored by and influential on both Chuck Berry and Little Richard (even mentioned in lyrics to Good Golly Miss Molly). Other excellent recordings that will repay you handsomely to search out and listen to are Cow-Cow Boogie, the R&B-tinged Mr. Five by Five (also big hits), and a sparkling and energized version of "Smack Dab In The Middle" from 1954, full of her signature moxie. Pizzazz and style were this Texas gal's hallmarks, whose undeniable joy of living showed through her recordings. Big fun!
