03/26/2005 | How is Dennis Rodman a notorious idiot? Rodman, for better or worse, sought to be a shock jock- and succeeded. Rodman became a caricature and lightning rod for everyone. From his tatoo-wearing Chicago Bulls days to his recently failed attempt at acting, Rodman plotted his career to the effect of getting the shock and awe of fans and his detractors. I don't think he was actually an idiot in that sense then because he got everyone's attention.

03/09/2005 |  I was watching a documentary on this guy, and how he looked similar to any typical player when he was with the Pistons. Rodman was a kid with no father figure who grew up on the streets. Chuck Daly kind of tucked him under his wing, and took him out to restaurants and over his house for the Thanksgiving dinner and all that. He won a title there and then the team split up and he got traded to the Spurs, where he didn't really mesh well with their clean-cut, religious sort of team. He kind of embraced it and started getting more and more tatoos and dying his hair a variety of colors. If there's one thing this guy could always do, it's fill the seats. He played with such intensity and was a lunatic. When he got traded from the Spurs to the Bulls, his behavior was welcomed by Phil Jackson, who was a bad actor in his own day. With Pippen and Jordon and the addition of the king of rebounding, the Bulls won 3 titles and were on top of the world, and when the team split up Rodman had no place to go but down. He partied too hard and got cut by the Lakers and Mavs. In his personal life he's had a string of rocky relationships and drug and alcohol problems. He's a guy who gets bored easily and always needs to be different and attract attention.
