Joan Jett is Rock n Roll, Pure and Simple. She transends time and gender. I have seen her many times live in real small venues, she is in essence, true to form punk rock icon, she rocks the roof off. She used to hang out after shows, usually signing autographs, taking pictures with fans. Joan has always been a very humble spirit, she just is having fun being herself, it is the only thing that makes sense to her. She is not a hack, nor a one hit wonder, those who get her, just do, and those that don't, who cares, she dosen't. I have had the pleasure and good fortune to meet her dozens of times. I have had both small and lengthy conversations with her, she has always been real cool to me, she just wants everyone to have fun and let loose. All this silly banter is just that, silly. Why is this even a question, of course she should be in th RRHF, if it weren't for the Runaways, there would have been no Pat Benatar, no Hole, no L7, no Kikini Kill, no 4 Non Blondes. She is Joan Jett, a true rock n roll pioneer.

I'm gonna echo the BS flag raising and say that some stalker needs a new hobby. In four days a bunch of fives have been dropped by people who are all saying the same thing. MULTI! UPDATE: How nice to see that the whole fan club showed up. Send me another message and I'll add her to my Points of Loathing list. She's a hack that shouldn't be allowed to play for change outside the entrance to the hall of fame! BRING ON THE HATE MAIL: Aside from bad taste in music, Joan Jett fans can add hate mail regarding said taste to the list of things they can do with their otherwise dull lives. I've already gotten one curse laden message and don't mind more. In addition, your fan club has made my points of loathing list, just like I promised! Enjoy! MEMO TO FAN CLUB: Go back to whatever dopey website you came from. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame does not use RIA in their voting system. IT CONTINUES: Six messages, two with cursing, one suggesting I seek therapy. Was the change joke that bad? UPDATE: This one little comment has made me the most hated man in a Joan Jett fans life. I'm so proud. UPDATE: More people need to hit this list so Joan will drop out of first and I can be done with this silly crusade against untalented musicians. UPDATE: The funny thing is that all the messages I get telling me to honestly evaluate her are coming from those who are foaming at the mouth, making zero sense, and backing up none of what they say as they brainlessly throw down fives in a sad attempt to convince people that Joan is not the hack that she is. You guys need to sit down for a few lessons with IJR and learn who to insult me, by the way. I have been mostly bored by your lack of imagination as you continue to bombard me with useless insults just because I don't like Joan Jett. UPDATE: Come one, come all! THERAPY SESSION ONE: Well, I took a reviewers advice and sought therapy over my Joan Jett problem. Dr. Scratchandsniff said my mom was responsible, and thinking about it, it makes sense. She ruthlessly bombarded me with quality music when I was growing up and encouraged my musical development to the point that I picked up a little music theory, so I now know how bad some music is. Thanks mom! OH YEAH: Hatters mom rocks harder than Joan Jett. Not bad for some bonehead macho type, eh? THERAPY SESSION TWO: We covered the rest of the music I dislike and determined that due to my intense dislike of boy bands and gansta rap that my dislike for Joan is at least not rooted in sexism. I'll let you know when we get to the bottom of it. RESOLUTION: Joan is off the top spot and Dr. Scratchandsniff told me that there is no psychological problem with my dislike of Joan Jett. Sometimes bad music is just bad music, I guess. Well, I'm not unblocked (I'll blame the system because I know he tried) but I believe that Joan Jett fans aren't bad people. They only listen to what I call bad music. The way my dad calls my heavier stuff noise and the way some of his steady music diet makes me gag, I guess I'll have to at least call a truce with the fans. My opinions on the music shall stand firm, but I'll stop giving you crap about your tastes in music. Now send me no more messages on this subject.

She had 3 top 10 hits ("I Love Rock n' Roll", "Crimson & Clover", "I Hate Myself for Loving You"), so she is not a one-hit wonder. She has a better shot than similar rockers like Def Leppard, due to her gender, but probably won't get in.

Last week I saw Joan Jett live on the Warped Tour. She is amazing - rock n roll embodied, with the spirit and the understanding and the feeling. She plays like it matters and it does. Enshrine her or be shamed.

NOT ONLY DOES JOAN BELONG IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME, SHE DESERVES EVERY AND ANY AWARD AND REWARD SHE RECEIVES. HER MUSIC CHANGED MY LIFE. I'M ONLY HOPING THAT SOMEDAY, SOMEHOW, I WILL FINALLY GET A CHANCE TO SEE HER PLAY. I bet all you pie faced rejects who hate Joan, probably listen to classic rock all day, and all live normal unexceptional lives. Get over yourselves!

I love rock and roll, a good reason to keep Joan out

A one-hit wonder. Not even a potentital candidate.

I thought the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was supposed to celebrate outstanding achievement.

Someone should tell all the lemmings checking in that their favorite skank won't get any closer to the R&R Hall of Fame because of their one-comment registrations. The only part of her music I liked is the cover on Naked, and then she doesn't have much to flaunt!

I don't hate her stuff, she just does not deserve the hall of fame. I did think she looked good in leather, though.

I have loved and admired Joan Jett's music for about 18 years now. I believe she is extremely talented and deserves to be inducted into the RRHF. She is rock'n'roll defined. She has inspired me personally to play rock music and I know has been a major influence for many bands old and new. In my opinion Joan Jett is the spirit of rock'n'roll and just experiencing one live show could convince even the toughest cynic that she is deserving of this reward. With 3 top ten records, and 7 other Billboard top 100 entries, both covers and ORIGINALS, seems to me she is more than deserving! Not to mention she has persevered the adversity and discouraging moments encountered by simply being a female. Joan Jett will continue to produce talanted and meaningful music no matter what. Her continued strength, loyalty, honesty, and die-hard commitment to herself, her friends/fans, and to rock music confirms her longevity in this industry. Hail!Hail!JOAN JETT!

One song should never get you into the hall of fame especially this one hit wonder.

NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. IF ANYONE DESERVES HALL OF FAME RICOGHITION, IT'S JOAN.

She was great and should go eventually. However, her contribution was limited, as she only did what others before her did. No real contribution that would have immitators 20 years later.

She is best known for I love Rock'n' Roll, a song she didn't even write. Putting her in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would be like putting Marylin Manson in the Hall of Fame for Tainted Love! UPDATE: Another one of here song I hate myself for loving you., I have heard garage bands play that song better than her. TO INSANEOCAPT: I have no problem with women playing in a Rock Band. My mom was in one. I personally think that Joan Jett sucks.

Joan Jett is a Goddess of Rock and Roll. She is one of the best female vocalists of rock. Just becaused her number one hit I love rock and roll was not written by her does not exclude her from the rock and roll hall of fame.

Who says that great music has to fit certain criteria to be great? Joans music is her own. She has her own style and I believe in her! I love to listen to her music. It's rock, it's punchy , it's Joan Jett. Look at everything that she has done and accomplished. Her career speaks for itself. I think she deserves to be in the Hall because of what she has accomplished and what she has given to the music world. You have to look beyond your your personal opinion on whether or not you like her songs, and look at what she has done. Go Joan!!!

If ever anyone were to be cut and bleed rock and roll,that would be Joan Jett. She has being touring since she was 15 with the Runaways and has continued to follow her passion with out stopping. Jett has influenced a multitude of talent of either gender who give great praise and respect to their mentor. She has busted open doors, hurdled obstacles, paved her own way where there where no roads at all, saved a life of a drowning boy, quietly volunteers for animal shelters, puts her life in danger to support and play for our troops (no matter what her opinion is on the war), which I might add, has been the first to go in combat zones on more than one occasion and returns to the combat zones. She is a person representitive of conviction, strength, dignity, loyalty, kindness, forthrightness and a driving force inside her spirit keeps her marching for the mojo of rock and roll. Her drug is rock and roll. Her heart beats rock and roll. She breaths rock and roll. She LOVES rock and roll. Joan IS pure rock and roll.

Joan has dedicated her entire adult life to this!!! It would be sooooo unfair if she wouldn't get it!

Joan Jett is a living legend! She should be in the Hall of Fame. She is the classiest, sexiest, most-talented female rocker I have ever seen. See her in concert and you will agree!!

Not a huge fan, but you gotta admit, she's like a cockroach---ya can't kill her. And her guitar playing is signature, has a life of it's own.

She changed my life. I was in high school in 1976, and my best friend brought this album over, with 5 16 year old girls playing Rock and Roll: The Runaways. You have to understand, this was unheard of at that time; It just wasn't done, women couldn't play rock like the men; All of a sudden, it was like, well, why not? She has influenced countless musicians today; Thanks to her (and The Runaways), we had The GO-GO's, Pretenders, Bangles, Hole, L7, etc etc etc etc, and generations of women rockers to come. I became an instant fan, listening to the progress and growth, year after year. I never got why they weren't huge. Sure enough, years later, Joan Jett hits as a solo artist. And she changes, grows, rocks, keeps playing, touring, writing; A true pioneer; An inspiration to women everywhere.

1) First time I've been to this board so you can't accuse me of being the same fan voting over and over again. I'm not even a member of her fan club or message board (although I think I might join). 2) I have had the pleasure of seeing Joan Jett live, playing her heart out in the pouring rain for fans of all ages, races and genders. I have never seen fans more appreciative. So the rating she has received does not surprise me at all. 3) It always amazes me at how nasty people can get when hiding behind a coded moniker. 4) Does she belong in Rock Hall? Absolutely. Numbers of top 40 hits (by the way she had 12) and number of Grammy nominations (1989-I Hate Myself for Loving YouI guess that blows the one hit wonder thing out of the water) arent part of the criteria. What is part of the criteria is that selections must include influence and significance of the artist's contribution to rock 'n' roll. You may or may not like her but if you know anything about her you know she fits the bill. You're talking about a woman who was turned down by 23 record labels and didn't give up, but instead started her own label (long before Righteous Babe Recordsno, thats not a knock on Ani DeFranco). She paved the way for a lot of women in rock today. You may not like her music, but you can't deny her impact on rock 'n' roll. One of the defining characteristics of rock 'n' roll is its social impact on the world. This is a woman who has influenced many young girls to pick up a guitar and follow their dreams. These same girls are now being embraced by the mainstream25 years ago that wasnt happening.

Well said numbah...LOL! I didnt realize so many liked this she-he that much!! Try and remember folks, POISON had a few number on hits too and we all know incredibly bad they were! She is a fine example of how gullible Americans can be as well as clueless when it comes to music. (speaking from a pro musicians point of view)She cant play guitar, she cant sing, but like 'Kiss' she had a writing style that perpetuted low rent hooks and anthem like songs that sold to the musically challenged masses. I will give her one thing, she knew what not to try to do, and in this case that was to try to play anything that needed real talent. She even made simplicity sound bad. Selling records cannot be the only way to get into the Hall of fame.

Joan deserves this more than anyone I can think of. Joan bleeds rock and roll. She isn't in it for selling a million records. She just loves to get out there and play rock and roll. She has been touring and releasing new music for 25 years (30 if you include the Runaways), even though she doesn't have a hit with every record. Joan is the most influential female rocker of all time. The Hall of Fame can't deny that!

I love Joan Jett music since 25 years and I love Joan Jett too. I'm a French fan who saw her the only two times she came in France.

Joan Jett has clearly survived the test of time. She has ascertained longevity and is still performing to this day. Joan Jett is exceptional. She has paved the way for many women musicians. Joan Jett was the first. Others followed. She is true to her rock and roll roots and has never strayed or compromised. She is always out there, performing non-stop and always willing to give her best and appease her fans. Joan Jett's music is raw and gritty. Rock and Roll the way it was meant to be. Joan Jett deserves to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It truly is about time!

I've been a fan of Joan Jett's for 25 years and counting; I've enjoyed both her work and the work of artists who have been influenced by her. And I look forward to seeing her many times more in the future because she continues to tour, playing venues all over the country, to this day.

It's amazing to me that this is even a question. And to the brain-trust who referred to her as a one-hit wonder -- she had more top 40 hits than Zeppelin, the Yardbirds, or Cream and I'm assuming you have no problem with their inclusion in the hall?

Since day one, Joan Jett has been a TRUE pioneer for women in Rock. She taught us we could rock as hard as any of the boys. As a female rocker, I am forever in her debt. Her music has helped to shape Rock-n-Roll for a generation, and she is certainly the most deserving woman of a spot in the RnRHOF! As a business woman, she has fought and beat the odds time and time again, starting her own successful label after being rejected by 23 male-dominated companies. She has refused to accept 'no' for an answer - that's the true spirit of Rock-n-Roll, personified! [Yes, I'm a Joan Jett fan, and no, I'm not the same person as anyone else who has posted comments. its so clear what has happened here so i will not waste my time pointing it out. the sad thing is that somebody couldn't stand strong enough on their own believing in something that they created imaginary friends to back them up. when you like someone or something that doesn't happen to be the favorite of the majority then its better to stand proud with the few and be unique then it is to immaturely waste the time of those that honestly put their opinion on their favorites. i like joan jett but deserving of the rock and roll hall of fame maybe but her place on this list at #1 no.

Ms. Jett is the persona of Rock and Roll! She lived it! She loves it! And she persists...A true Rock and Roller! She won my (black)heart and well as many others. She is quite the influence, and a great supporter of good music.

I feel the need to set something straight here. This is not one person giving Joan all these five stars. Joan has a big number of loyal fans and that is who this is. Once we found out about this we all had to vote for our women, we have wanted Joan to get in to the hall of fame for years and we are just showing our support, so get over it. Whoever you think should be #1 on this list obviously does not have loyal fans like this, we are just working together to show our support for Joan. Her music is not crap either, just because you dont like the music type gives you no reason to say S**t like that. So just stop saying this BS and get over it. Joan has been through so much and deserves it more then anybody. Because of this i will also give Joan 5 stars, because the Hall of Fame is waiting for her!!!

The Queen of RnR. The Iron Woman of RnR. Joan has had so many firsts that have already been discussed so completely by others here. There is and never has been anyone that I would pay to see in concert 9 times like I have for Joan Jett. Totally energized everytime she runs out on stage, always ready to give 110% of herself to her audience. WHY? Sometimes it is not the largest crowd, or the nicest arena, but it doesn't matter to her. Joan is dedicated to rock and roll and that is what she cares about. She's there to rock you and to make sure you have a heart pounding, fist pumping, sweat pouring good time. I saw her in 1985 for the first time, and a few months ago most recently, and she just gets better and better and better. Joan has been captivating audiences for around 30 years now, (counting her time in the Runaways). How can Joan be denied the RnR Hall of Fame?...When I see Joan on stage and she lifts that white Gibson and dives in to Bad Reputation, every time I know that I am watching a legend, a living legend, a legend that is still going strong, still rocking our world. Joans latest cd ,Naked, is the best of her career in my opinion. So many songs are so much better than a lot of the stuff on the radio today its pathetic. Joan is already in my Hall of Fame, Let's put her in the RnR Hall of Fame where she belongs!

Of course Joan Jett should be in the Hall Of Fame! She's a true original as well as an inspiration for Goddess knows how many women (including yours truly) I can think of no one more deserving of the honor than Joan. Anyone who doubts it should see her play...just once will do it...and you'll know that the Hall cannot possibly be considered complete without Joan Jett!!

As mentioned for many years as one of the hardest working rockers, Joan Jett deserves this place in history. Not only for her unselfish contribution to Rock and Roll but also for her genuine love for the music itself.
