Excellent whisky, very smooth, refined, and subtle. Total lack of harshness, yet still has a great depth of character & flavor. A good burbon to introduce people to whisky.

I enjoy this bourbon from time to time although it’s a little over priced. Taste is a very subjective and what’s good to one may be awful to someone else so you really need to try it for yourself. For the money Buffalo Trace wins hands down but it is very difficult to get where I live.

Decent bourbon. Got a bottle of it sitting next to me right now. It goes down smooth, and it tastes pretty good too. Call me weird, but I do prefer liquor that has bite to it and this sort of lacks that kick. Unfortunately, bourbon doesn't really do too much for me. I can throw back 5 or 6 shots without getting much of a buzz. Must be the Russian blood. Guess it's time to find harder stuff.

As a newer whiskey drinker, I have to say this is an excellent one to start with. It is best to prepare at home with 2 shots Makers and a splash of water or at a bar: "Double Makers neat with a splash of water." Never on the rocks as it ruins the flavors and aromas that make this an excellent sipping drink.

it think it's just dandy, it's a civilized bourbon that's for true. i enjoy Wild Turkey and the profile and bite it has, but this is much more sophisticated. It's marble smooth, yet still warms the throat. the mouthfeel is excellent. the smell isn't harsh at all, woody and fruits. if you breath in deep and close enough you will clear your sinus' taste is sweet overall, caramel and blackstrap molasses with some apricot notes, it's not overly complex and doesn't "punch" you in the mouth like Wild Turkey. there is no backlash of bitterness apparent in cheaper bourbons. the price is a bit steep, but this product isn't hiding behind as big of a marketing campaign like some of the hyper overpriced vodka's out there. i'd much rather drop money on this than a bottle of grey goose, that's for damn sure! I'm mostly a Vodka and Rye drinker, a year ago i got into bourbon, this ranks right up there with my favorite Elijah Craig 18 Single Barrel and Woodford Reserve.

A little bit more on the pricey side, but one of the smoothest bourbons you can get IMHO. I also like Basil Hayden, which is also pretty smooth, but there is something about Makers that is just unique. I do agree a little bit that the wax thing can come off as a little bit heavy on the marketing, but honestly its not that big a deal. If you walk around a liquor store almost every bottle and especially the ones trying to gain some market share have something to make them stand out. I say just let the whiskey taste be the factor in the decision. It may be a bit pricey to drink everyday but for special occasions you should definitely try Makers next time.

A little over priced in my opinion, but atleast when you look at your cool candlewax covered bottle you know where the extra money went. Don't get me wrong the taste is great, but if your at a bar & not taking the decorative bottle home with you...this would not be my first choice of bourbon. Would look cool in a Wild West theme bar.

Maker's is overall a decent bourbon. It is sweeter than some but very smooth and makes an excellent Manhattan. The price is affordable and you could do worse.

It was pretty good. For the price I paid for the bottle which was about 22 bucks it went down pretty smooth, had little burn and was really good.. it makes a really good whiskey sour and also really good on its own.

I think 4 stars is appropriate for this one, I like it, but I'll take Gentleman Jack over this any day. But just my opinion.

Update, I have to apologize for my intial reaction to this bourbon. I think probably had an off day or something when I first tried it. Today I had a day off of work ( and no I am not hungover from st.paddy's day), so I figured I would set the record straight. Yesterday I actually bought a fifth of this bourbon thinking I may have misjudged the quality of the product. My feeling was right, it is a quality bourbon. I would put it on the same level as wild turkey 101 and Knob Creek, it is soooo smooth it is very easy to drink straight. Plus one hell of a value as well, a handmade, 90 proof, 19 barrels per a batch small batch bourbon. Plus it is less expensive than Knob Creek! This bourbon will never replace knob creek, however it will stand right next to it in my liquor cabinet.

Makers is a wonderful smooth sweeter bourbon that is heaven to sip. It is in line with the style of bourbon that I prefer. I am not particularly fond of bourbons that have a more sour finish.

At a bourbon tasting earlier this year, Maker's was the only distiller serving mixed drinks which shows me that they understand full well where their product ranks among bourbons. I find their product too dry and too bland for drinking neat and frankly it tastes more like a cheap blended Canadian Whisky than a bourbon. For slightly less money I can buy Wild Turkey 101, a substantially superior product.

Its simple but excellent bourbon. Golden all the way around, smooth, inoffensive, easy drinking goodness. Complaining about this bourbon is like complaining about a nugget of gold, it may not be a necklace but its still gold! Perhaps a nugget of gold thats artfully crafted into jewerly is superior to a nugget of gold. But some gold jewerly is also gaudy and overdone. You will never say that about Makers Mark, though on the flip side you cant help but be greedy and wish for something more artful and complex. Human nature I suppose but that doesnt diminish this pleasant golden beverage in the slightest bit, delicious.

I am a whiskey drinker with out a geographical loyalty, I like it on the rocks to appreciate and socially mix with cola, Makers Mark is a good sipper but falls short mixed, it is simple in taste, pleasant but lack the intrigue of a better blended fair.

It is a good bourbon. No more, no less. However, it is overpriced. I would just as likely buy a bottle of Jack Daniels.

It's ok. I've had numerous bottles of this stuff and while it's still good it's very inconsistent. I've had some great bottles and some OK bottles. It's not their fault, demand has outstripped supply and quality has taken a backseat to quantity with some of their recent batches. Maker' Mark is still a good bourbon and it's great for introducing people to bourbon.

Very smooth and flavorable whisky, one of the top bourbons distilled in kentucky. You will not find a better better bourbon for it's price.

I very rarely drink hard liquor, but, I do sip this stuff sometimes when I do.  This is bourbon that goes down like brandy.  Absolutely no kick back.  And, it puts it to you, believe me.

Very Good whisky, The price is around 33-35.99 a bottle and has a nice taste to it, and a very good nose. A good way to try this whisky is with a splash of some bottle water (dont contaminate your whisky with faucet water). The splash of bottle water really brings out the aroma in this whisky ALOT. you can smell it pouring with scent after the water takes its toll, dont forget to give it a neat slow swish to let it do its job.

A decent whiskey for the price but sort of falls into the Jack Daniels category if you ask me. Try Woodford Reserve, and if you have the cash try one of their "Master's Collection" products. Great stuff.

2.5-3 if i could rate it that way.  very flavorful, but too sweet in my opinion to drink neat or on the rocks which is how i like to drink my whiskies. strong tones of caramel, honey, and syrup on the palate. little over rated. Works great though as a mixer for certain beverages like sweet ice tea, and dark hot chocolate.

The flavor is very mild and Maker's Mark is a disappointment for the price. It is more reminiscent of Canadian whiskey than of good bourbon.

The Bushmills of American whiskey. Smooth, inoffensive, good introduction to upper shelf product. Too sweet for many palates, it is a pretty good pour. Would have been four stars but it is overpriced where I live. Supply and demand I guess.

One of five whiskys(no, I didn't misspell it, I used the Scottish way) like it. NO RYE. The lack of rye and the use of winter wheat brings a very mellow pallate that is followed by caramel, oak, and sweetness. Nectar if I ever tasted it. And this is coming from somebody who visited 9 whiskey distilleries in as many day.

A fine bourbon.  Good character, excellent neat or on the rocks, and an excellent finish, but don't contaminate it with cola.  It deserves better than a soda pop coverup.

This was my first drink ever.  It came recommended from an experienced friend.  $30 for a fifth of 90 proof (45%) bourbon.  At my first sip (which incedentally came from a coffee mug, no decent pubware), I didn't even flinch.  Easy and hardly noticeable on the taste buds (It was cold, as in refrigerated, and neat), with a consistant and non-shocking warmth down to my stomach.  I had enough to not be drunk, but in a very happy place.  No headache, no sickness, no discomfort whatsoever.  To the average person, this will be a nice thing to keep in the cabinet for special occasions, company, etc.five stars: Little pricey (for me), but you get what you pay for.

A very solid bourbon.  I am from Kentucky and have been raised around bourbon all my life.  When Kentuckians think of good bourbon this is definately one of the first to come to mind.  Not the best but very close.

Thin and watery. More like a Canadian whiskey. There are better and cheaper wheat bourbons, like Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Yr. Old, WL Weller 12 Yr. Old or Antique 107 Proof. Got to give the MM people credit for marketing though.

While not overly fond of Bourbon, after being introduced to Maker's Mark by a friend, I have to say it is pretty good. Smooth and easy to drink, either straight or with a mixer. Best Bourbon I've tasted yet.

a very good, easy bourbon to drink. Not strong or distinctive in taste but has it's own destinctive flavor. If you like smooth but not bold or spicey this would be good for you. Also unigue features like wax dipped seals.

I love this stuff! I went on the distillery tour while on a buisiness trip and was blown away by the attention to quality they put into their product. Because it was a Sunday, there were no free samples. So the next day I ran out to get some, and am today (after 2 more bottles) compleatly sold on the fact that it's the best Bourbon on the market!
