I can't quite give them a 5, as some of their music was spotty after the 3rd album, but few, if any, American groups were so much of a true band, if you know what I mean. Most bands are dominated by 1 or 2 members, but this band had five songwriters, four strong singers, especially Bob Mosley, who may be the single best male white soul singer I've ever heard- I thought the guy was black. Hell of a bassist too, and all of them were at the very least good musicians. Jerry Miller is arguably the most underrated guitarist of the time and place. Too bad they had such hard luck.
