Definitely brings a helluva kick and it can knock you on your ass very easily but this is a damn good drink, in fact I am enjoying it now.

I've tried other products by this distillery, but I keep coming back to the 101. This is the best sipping bourbon I know. If you water down or ice or, god forbid, mix, then buy something else. But if you know how to put a little into the front of your mouth, inhale, swallow, then exhale, there is nothing better than "a word with the bird." The next step up is a v.s.o.p. cognac or armagnac.

I assume that this is the page for 80 proof Wild Turkey, since the 101 proof has its own page. I got a 750 ml bottle of 80 proof (40%) WT for probably a bit under $25. Taste is ok, but for the price it's not fantastic. I'd prefer to pay $10 less and get Jim Beam or $6 more and get Maker's Mark. The idea is: pay less, drink a lot; or pay more, enjoy sipping thoughtfully. Wild Turkey 80 seems to be the uninteresting middleground of the two. I understand that WT 101 is the same price, buy that and mix or dilute. Also, the bottle has a cork stopper for a lid, which is cool at first. It always makes that squeaking sound and dull pop as the bottle is opened. But later bits of cork start to fall off into the whiskey (bad).
three stars: gets the job done, but not efficiently.

A nice easy drinking bourbon. Very different than the 101 proof. If you like Jack Daniels, you will like Wild Turkey. Less sweet than JD but similar in character.

All versions of turkey are good. A bit sweeter and more flavorful than most. Russel's Reserve is a favorite of mine.

understand there are several varieties of Wild Turkey. Do yourself a favor and spend the couple extra bucks for the Russells Reserve (aged 10 years) or Rare Breed. Both are smooooooooth to the pallett and have an excellant bouguet to them.

Not bad but not very good either.

watch yourself with this nasty stuff

Rember that time you downed a bunch of this and ended up having the night of your life? Of course you don't! You don't even remember how you woke up with someone elses' clothes on, but it was a hell of a party getting there.

Excellent Bourban. I have been a Scotch drinker for most of my career, but, have been getting into American Whisky. Three fingers of Wild Turkey 101 over ice and I'm feeling great. Control the urge to have more because it packs a wallop!

Drink 101 in moderation only. Excessive drinking of this bourbon tends to cause the consumer to act like a turkey. Gabble gablle.

I'm a novice (for better or worse; need more experience, but also not biased) at bourbons. I just began trying them this week. I found regular WT to be okay... but spring for Rare Breed, if you have the cash. It is far better; an EXTREMELY smooth swallow compared to this one.

A staple. Not a great bourbon (though the 101 is fine), but a high enough quality : price ratio to make it perfect for everyday drinking.

Oh, it went down smooth alright. It's the coming-back-up-two-hours-later part that kicked my ass. Although I will say, it makes an excellent fertilizer when mixed w/ Subway's Sweet Onion Chicken Teriaki sub. The flower that was so lucky as to have me empty the entire contents of my stomach on it was the only one out of the whole flower bed to bloom. Despite my horrible encounter w/ this stuff, I give it three stars, because I've never had so much fun spending the night w/ my head in the flower bed as I had when I was drunk off of this stuff. Never again, though.

I love this. I know it isn't the finest of bourbons, but there is something appealing about it.

Delicious stuff, mixed or straight up. Can drink it all night.
Enkidu 11/28/2003
Pretty good bourbon (the 101 proof version), satisfying, though not as good as some of the others you can get for slightly more. It doesn't taste quite as good the next morning though.

I think it's overpriced. It's good whisky, but several others are equal to or better and cost less.

Before I discovered Maker's Mark, this was the bourbon whiskey I drunk when I was drinking bourbon whiskey. An excellent shooting whiskey with a hell of a kick and a lot of fond memories.

Every trip to the bars should begin and end with a satisfying gulp of the gobblety. By the shot or the bottle, it makes a great gift, too!

I drink this stuff for breakfast, its a great way to wake up in the morning!!
MorgansInJesus 01/21/2001
I grew up about 7 miles from the distillery... gives me less hangover than most brands too!

This was my first drink and the best way I can describe it is, Yes! While still on the pricey side, this full-bodied and smooth liquor feels smooth going down without that nasty burning, eyewatering after sensation. Definitely a yes if you want to impress your guests or at least appear to have some class.

Wild Turkey is not a classic on the level of Jack Daniels but it has that down south tang that makes it great. Besides that, Wild Turkey will never make you sick. I could take a swim in a vat of Wild Turkey and never get a hangover because it is just that good.

Some of the darkest evenings in my illustrious drinking career began with the dreaded "gobble, gobble" of the Wild Turkey.
Ruby 05/01/2000
I've seen bad things happen to good people that have consumed the wrong amount of Wild Turkey. They're always interesting things though... viva le Turkey!
