I was pleasantly surprised to see the Angels not collapse their way into losing the playoff series against Team Steinbrenner and its collection of overpaid free agents. Unfortunately, the two teams I would like to see win the whole thing, the Angels and White Sox, are facing each other, so one will be eliminated. As a SoCal resident I can appreciate the Angels. Up until a couple of seasons ago they were sort of like the Phoenix Suns. Meaning, they were always competitive and had good players, but never won the whole enchilada. I think Artie Moreno has done a much better job as a new owner than has the outfit that just took over the Dodgers, so I support his efforts to win another one with the team that can't seem to decide what its geographical allegiance should be.

I liked Artie Moreno when I heard he lowered beer prices at Angels home games, but this name change to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim is ridiculous. However, the team is still solid and should have an easirr time in the AL West without Oakland's big 3. I don't think their pitching right now will be strong enough to get them through the playoffs, but a couple of good in season trades might make them more likely to win the World Series.
