Not bad, although some key figures are either combined or omitted. From the little my uncle (who served under Johnny Frosts command at Arnhem) told me, that element of the film is pretty accurate.

Overall, the Arnhem bridge sequences in A Bridge Too Far was pretty convincing, beginning with the paratroopers having to take over the house that the old lady and her son (I think it was her son) were living in. I recall having read that the young actors/extras they got to play the paratroopers (who were had no experfience in the military as paratroopers) got so much into the part thatby the time they shot the footage they were pretty much acting like a bona-fide paratroop unit in terms of spirit, aggressiveness, and understanding tactics. They really took on the role. I enjoy this movie every time it comes on TV.
