It doesn't say anywhere on the carpool lane sign the everybody has to be alive. It just says 2 or more in vehicle.

I don't know if someone driving a hearse is allowed to drive in the carpool lane but I think they should be allowed to do so.

I'm funeral director and in California a hearse with a body doesn't count as a carpool. Interestingly, despite the point of the carpool (getting drivers to share cars to reduce traffic)children and pregnant women do count as carpools.

No, but ironically, a taxi can.

If the departed is upright in the passenger seat, you might get away with it. Might be a different law covering that, though.

Only in the case of multiple corpses and only during rush hour.

What about multiple personalities? Does that count?

I dunno . . . would a short person or a child only be considered half a person in a car pool lane?

Well it begs the question can a corpse also get a ticket for driving in the carpool lane. Haven't seen too many dead people fall under the dictates of law!

That almost seems too morbid to think about, but it's definitely a good question. I don't know the answer-wonder if anyone else does

I think this is a great idea. Its at least a good excuse: Mr Johnson and I are late for his appoitment with a hole in the ground. Would a cop buy that?

No.. most laws apply only to the living.
