Chase & Sanborn 1

Background: Not a coffee nerd. I usually buy whatever is on sale, but I mostly enjoy Maxwell House dark roasts. I drink my coffee black with no sugar. I think Dunkin' Donuts makes the best coffee. Yes, I do own an espresso machine... but I hate cleaning it.

Funnily enough, this coffee sort of tastes like Starbucks drip coffee (or Rao's if you live near Amherst, MA). That's not to say that is "tastes good" - because it doesn't - it just tastes burnt. It also tastes like extremely stale coffee. I'm talking sitting in the corner of your pantry after being opened for two years covered in cobwebs stale. It's just barely palatable.

For the curious: If they don't sell Chase and Sanborn around your area but you want to know what it tastes like just reuse the leftover coffee grounds from yesterday morning's batch and voila!

I'd have to tack a name "rot gut of coffee's" on this product. I purchased a can for the first time last week and although the flavor was exceptable the product did carry negitive gastrointestinol effects that I surviced and my "system" now seems to be tolerating the coffee better.

I don't know if the can I bought was expired or not, but this coffee made me sick for a couple of days. Never had it again.

I used to drink Starbucks but since I retired we can no longer afford $7.99 for 10 oz. of coffee. We tried many, many brands but were not happy with any of them. I saw an ad for Chase and Sanborn at Walgreen's for $3.99 for a 34 oz. can, so we tried it. We are extremely happy with the taste and quality, and you cannot beat the price for this very satisfying coffee. We love it. I use 1/3 cup of grounds for 8 cups of water.

An outstanding product. Not just in price but it is a great, smooth, not bitter coffee that taste great in any coffee maker.

Forget the "special roast" decaf. It is not dark roasted, it is burnt!! Has very bitter flavor of beans that were roasted well past "dark" to burned. About the only use for it may be added to the compost for the garden. Perhaps the worst coffee I ever remember.

Not only does this coffee taste like ASS, I thought Mr. Snuffles pooped into the coffeemaker. Sadly, he didn't. An added benefit was this coffee serves as an excellent laxative and curbs your appetite from wanting to vomit all morning.

What are you????? a bunch of pussies?  This is an x-cellent coffee, that is if you know how to make coffee.  Why with my 4 (count em') 4 spoons of sugar and a healthy splash of Coffee-Mate it is absolutely delish!  Truthfully, I would buy Chase & Sanborn (even if it wasn't on sale) before a more expensive brand.

Overall for the price, this is a great coffee. I thought that I was getting a deal on it however another store had it for that price everyday!

Save a lot $3.99 each and everyday
Walgreens on Sale $3.99/$5.00 reg price

I say, give it a try! I did and it is no different than any other coffee I have tried.

When I returned to RiteAid just now for my third can of Chase & Sanborn coffee, I learned that the store no longer carries it. This was quite a disappointment, since it was only two cans ago that I learned that Chase & Sanborn still exists. Until then, I had thought it was buried somewhere along with Smith Brothers cough drops. Well, that won't stop me. I have to admit that I bought the first can out of pure nostalgia, but I soon found that I liked it better than any other coffee that I had tried, and I'm going to keep looking until I find another source of supply. In fact, I only happened to stumble across this website in my search for a supplier.

I was very disappointed in the Chase & Sanborn "Special Roast" I bought at the store.
It had NO flavor. My "coffee" tasted like hot water mixed with cream. I tried grinding the grounds a little more finely than how they came in the can, but it did not help at all.
I am trying to find out where I bought it so I can return it. It is not at all worth keeping, even if it was cheap because I could get the same flavor from boiling water and cream.
A much better inexpensive choice from a can at the grocery store is Folgers with the AromaSeal in the plastic canister, or Don Francisco's.

It is true that when you are straped for cash, Chase&Sanborn when made rite, is a very good cup of joe. Chase&Sanborn is and always will be a good value, it's been that way since 1862.

I never had this kind before, but it's cheap and I figured I'd give it a try. If the car of anyone reading this review has stalled or your battery is dead.... Tastes like the liver of a skunk or an anteater has been ground up...

I'm 52 years old and have had lots of coffee from almost everywhere at all prices all my life. This is a skocking disappointment! Of all the coffee that I've ever had, I never before thought that there was such a thing as bad, really bad, coffee. As a matter of experience, this can't be coffee; this must be some other brown substance or by-product that Sara Lee packaged to avoid waste disposal costs. This substance is proof that you can pay too little for a product. At $5.99 a can, it's no bargain to need to add extraordiary additives mask this foul fertlizer.

We buy Chase & Sanborn all the time. Our WalMart carries it. However the last can we had was not too good. Anyone else have this problem?

Out of all the major grocery stores that sell coffee, like Albertsons, Safeway, Top Foods, Fred Meyer, etc, etc, etc. Chase & Sanborn is by far the Best canned coffee I have ever had! It's smooth, never bitter has a mild flavor. It's just very difficult for me to find, I usually have to have my parents pick me some up from the commisary on base!

This coffee tastes pretty good with a little milk, and has more of a kick than most arabica coffee (more caffeine). Only for people that really like the taste of coffee (no pansies).

It has superb coffee taste when made at home with a gold filter & spring water. The expense is minimal which is difficult to explain today. The major problem? Nobody carries it. As of today I shall have to change brands. What can be done?

This Coffee tasted like somebody emptied the pencil sharpener and tried to brew it. I would say the aftertaste leaves an aftertaste. It was cheap, which motivated me to try it, but i think that is all it really had going for it. I gave it two stars just because i really liked their little history on the side of the tin.

Probably the best tasting coffee at any price using unbleached coffee filters. The bleached filters seem to allow a harsh taste to accompany the brew. My favourite coffe of all time but very difficult to locate suppliers.

If you are really strapped for cash, Chase & Sanborn can do the trick, but there are much more flavorful coffees to choose from.
