Are you kidding me? If you lived in an American league city outside of New York than this whole decade was a waste. Casey's juggarnaut simply bought all the good players.

Good list. (In fact, I'm gonna have my new Best Decade in the NBA list soon) Anyway, the 1950's were great for baseball because the three NY teams participated in every year except 1959. ... Dad was born in 1951 and watched many Yankee games as a kid. He loved 1956.

If you lived in New York, as a lot of prominent sportswriters did, this was a great decade, with a team from the city in the World Series almost every year, and winning most of them. If you lived anywhere else, it got a little boring. This was the decade when teams began to move, the Braves left Boston for Milwaukee, and the Dodgers and Giants fled to the west coast. What is sometimes forgotten is that baseball was in deep financial trouble during this decade, with many teams barely scraping by.
