1 stars I have started up my membership again giving them one last try, my promotion was the free coffee pot and the gal told me for $10. I would only have to pay $1. for future shipments which I agreed to, they billed my credit card the $29.95 plus the $10. fee for the shipping andhandling promotion, now I find out that I do not get my shipping and handling for this amount but have to pay full price, they are really dumb people here as no one knows what I am talking about. Not worth the hassel. Customer Service here stinks. Upset Customer from Iowa

Was a Gevalia fan for 15 years. Have spent over $12,000 dollars. Occasionally the coffee was 'off' (fish smell) but generally we loved it. We had some problems with a shipment a year back and went through HELL with customer service to get it replaced (they shipped us the wrong product, we were billed and we had to ship their mistake back before they would ship us a new shipment - to this day this was never resolved). We overlooked it. On our last shipment - shipment #175 - we received an unsealed box in our regular monthly shipment of 10 boxes for the month. Called customer service. Was interrogated. Was told to ship back this one stupid single 1/2 lb box so they could send out a new one. Are you kidding me! I cancelled the 15 year membership. Told them to forget the replacement as I was throwing the single box away. They supposedly cancelled the membership - and sent me a replacement single box! - and billed me for their mistake!!!. We are done - done - done. I was an apolstle for Gevalia for years - but now I will do everything I can to tell everyone to stay - stay - stay away. Their Customer Service was obnoxious and couldn't give a damn about a 15 year loyal paying customer. Go to Costco, BJ's, Sam's Club and buy Starbucks or one of their private label store "strong" blends. Its 1/3 the price and the quality of the product and the service is better. F' Gevalia.

Great marketing, mediocre coffee.

So far I've had 2 coffeemakers break in less than 6 months, and they double billed me which put me into the red in my bank account. After numerous calls, they said this was normal because they had to "check" to see if the money was there. After the payment had already come out, they still hadnt refunded. They kept telling me it was the banks fault. My bank told me it was them putting the money on hold, and it was Gevalias fault. My bank told me to get a faxed letter from a manager stating to release the money back to me. They refused!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They told me basically to suck it up and wait. I told her it was not her money to hold, since they had already gotten their money. After 3 nasty phone calls threatening me filing fraud charges against them, I finally got my money back 2 weeks later. Customer Service couldnt understand why I was so mad. I never did get the $25 NSF fee my bank charged me for going in the red. PLUS, there is no Cancel account button on the site anywhere. You have to call to cancel. MAKE SURE you do not provide a Credit Card on your account, or the WILL access it, and charge double, to "check" if you have the money to pay your bill. Now I'm dealing with my second broken coffeemaker. Not sure if they will replace this one or not. They are cheaply made, and poor quality coffeemakers. The old saying "You get what you pay for" is absolutely right.

My family would always have Gevalia in the house, and while I am not a coffee drinker I would try the flavors that came monthly. The coffee is not bad at all, and I like the fact that you can get a free coffee maker. My family never had any problems with the customer service, so I am gonna say that Gevalia is ok by me!

I received 2lbs of coffee and the stainless steel coffeemaker 2 weeks ago. I just tried it this morning and I have to say the coffee sucks. It has a strong bitter taste and this was even after I threw out the first blend and tried the second. The coffeemaker looks nice and it worked fine but it's certainly not the best coffeemaker in the world. I called customer service and the representative offered to help me select a different blend (which is normal after the company has invested in sending a coffeemaker and coffee for about $16 which includes shipping), but I said no thanks and asked if I should return everything. She responded, "No, you can keep it, your account has been cancelled, and there is no balance on your account." So far so good and I don't expect to see any new charges!

Stay away from this cheat if you don't want lots of troubles as you want to cancel the order; Gevalia won't make it easy for you to do such a thing.Customers assumed that they could get " a trial wilth 14.99" with " valued coffee maker" as the ads said and cancel anytime at will!! Reality proved that "order comfirmation feedback" with no invoice number nor tracking number!!Terrible; one more thing, if you want to cancel the order customer Representatives will politely ask you to reveal your debit account!!!?? with "a pledge such as they need that to make refund", you should not fall for that or you will regreted later. One more thing, they post their website with "order cancelation" didn't work, you have to go through customer feedback !!!??what a hell??Don't let their dencent outlook website and great gift as they promissed cheated you.Try it and then say sorry for it!!

We had a Gevalia coffeemaker in our office that quit after 1-1/2 years. I called customer service and they could not offer anything beyond buying a new one at full retail price, because the warranty was only one year. I asked to talk with the supervisor and still nothing more was offered. I've had coffeemakers for 10-15 years and expected this one to last that long. The supervisor admitted that the coffeemakers she had there have lasted 5-7 years. I was very disappointed that they could offer me nothing beyond the strict letter of the warranty. For 99 bucks I'd expect something more reliable! I won't buy a Gevalia coffemaker and unfortunately my feelings extend to the whole brand. I guess I'm spoiled by Target and Eddie Bauer, who understand that you need to stand by your products to keep happy customers. I will stay away from Gevalia.

Over 3 months ago in early January, 2009, I ordered a replacement carafe for the "free" coffee maker they sent me. The wrong one was sent. I called and was assured they would send me a return address label. After a month, I called again and was told the same thing. The third time I asked for a supervisor and was told it would be handled. The forth time, I threatened to put up a youtube video and promised results. This was Andy employee number 643113 on April 2. Still nothing in the mail. On April 20 I called again and was told that my credit card had been refunded, but to get the proper carafe I had to re-order and be charged. I said, "You have got to be kidding. After 3 months of hell?" I still have not heard from them, nor do I expect to. I am stuck with the wrong carafe cluttering my house. I will never do business with these jerks again.Update: I sent this review to Gevalia and received an email response saying the same stupid thing: my card had been refunded (btw. something I never asked for) and that to get the proper carafe I would have to re-order and pay for a new one. I guess customer service can't read either. I want to return and exchange the carafe that does not fit my machine. I made that clear three months ago and was told they would send a return label. Now they are changing their tune, saying keep the bad carafe and order a new one!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! They must think I'm as stupid as they are in customer service.

I've been with Gevalia for 2 years now. The coffee maker is a decent coffee maker. I cant complain about. I mean, it's not great but it is better then the $30 ones in the store. I've been using my maker for 2 years, everyday it brews one pot of coffee. Weekends it brews 2 pots each morning. Like I said, I have no complaints about the maker. Can go wrong with it being free! The Coffee - We cant get enough of it. Everyone who i have made the coffee for loves it. I have turned 16 people to Gevalia and they have become members. I have not heard any complaints from any of them either. Back to the coffee. If you are a coffee lover, then this coffee is for you. If you are the type of person that likes instant coffee, then you will not find the pleasure in drink this. It is a little pricey but it's not something that I drink everyday. May weekday coffee is Folgers Dark Roast and sometimes Breakfast blend. I drink the Gevalia on the weekends to treat myself. They offer many many different kinds of coffee. Traditional to Signature Blend to Flavored all the way to Organic Rain-forest. When you go on-line to your account, you have full control of your shipping times and qty's. You can have it sent to your door every 3 weeks to 1 year. There are no surprises. Reading these reviews, I think a lot of people are just bitter or do not know what good coffee is. Like I said, member for 2 years - have 16 people I referred signed up. Not one complaint!Give it try. You'll like it. I tried it and Love it.

I ordered my coffemaker, coffee and mug on 1/12/09 and received it yesterday (1/19/09). I have not gotten to use it yet. I have noticed many people complaining about water and coffee spilling when they pour. That can happen with any coffee pot. The one I have now that I bought at the store drips water all over if I try to pour too fast. The coffee pot at my work is the same way. For everybody that has complained about the coffee maker think about this, you got it for free! It's stupid to complain about a product you got for free. You complain about it breaking but that can happen with a coffee maker from the store. I have had 2 in the last 4 years. Again, quit complaining about a free product. Obviously the company can't be that bad if they have so many satisfied customers. There are always people that are going to have a bad experience with any company. I did get to use my mug this moring and am extremely happy with it. I can't wait to try the coffee.
BrightLight 01/07/2009
I am very disturbed by some of these reviews, they read as if written by some permanently angry individuals. My 5-star experience has been on and off for the last 15 years, so I have about 4 different account numbers but despite the confusion I have had no problems. I've cancelled three different times and I was never given the hard sell at any time. I've gone through four different coffee makers, and usually the teflon heating surface goes before the maker does. The 12-cup programmable coffee maker brews delicious coffee in a flash, and it has a lifetime warranty as long as you are in the program, so I'm not sure why one reviewer had a problem getting hers replaced. And the coffee itself, although pricey is very good. Living in Seattle I've had the opportunity to pour for a number of coffee snobs and friends and neighbors alike are never disappointed. In fact I think if it weren't for Gevalia I wouldn't be such good friends with my neighbor, who stops by about once a week now to see if I've got any Gevalia coffee brewing. Her visits and my Gevalia coffee have proven to be a mutual treat. So to me, it's all good!
iwantapython 10/24/2008
My boss gets this coffee and makes it every morning. First of all, I am a coffee lover, and although I am not allowed to drink his coffee (because he is cheap), I wouldn't drink it anyway. It smells like tuna fish. I have tried it once (when he was not around), and I think it tastes like a tuna fish sandwich. GROSS

After one year with Gevalia I just cancelled my account. I apparently had a balance of 56 bucks that I had no idea about because my transaction with my debit card did not go through. Instead of a courteous email or letter from the company reminding of the outstanding balance and the fact that they had trouble with my debit card, I get a letter from a COLLECTION AGENCY threatening to ruin my credit if I didn't pay up. I immediately called Gevalia to pay the balance and cancel. The representative was dumb as a pile of bricks and didn't have any kind of apology to offer. STAY AWAY!!!
thepope 10/15/2008
Coffee is pretty good, but it is impossible to cancel your account online. You can suspend temporarily, but it's annoying. If you want to cancel, you have to go to the customer service form, which kicks you into a "Chat" function, which never works. Then you have to call them and they try to give you free lifetime shipping and they challenge every reason why you want to cancel. At that point you're so mad, that you want to cancel and burn them on forums like this. The CS person was rude, spoke really fast and totally had an attitude. Good riddance. I would never sign up for this again.

Just canceled my 10 year service with Gevalia. They double billed me and customer service was horrible. Stacy was the worst, she talked to me like I was not worth her time. Do yourself a favor, don't get taken in by the free items, they really don't care about the customer. Buy Dunkin Donuts coffee instead!
kyoomac 09/16/2008
Albagee, yes the coffee maker was free, in exchange for buying Gevalia coffee. If the maker is a piece of crap like mine, why would I continue buying Gevalia coffee. A company should put it's best foot forward if they want people to continue buying their product. I would give this maker a zero star, but the rating system won't let me.
albagee 08/21/2008
People are so stupid for complaining about a coffee maker they got for FREE and then calling customer service to try and finagle a new out out of the company. Shame on all of you.
perlestellar 08/12/2008
My coffee maker broke after a tiny little plastic part broke off. I'm very unhappy. Why do they use plastic on parts that will wear out in a year?
antbuko 08/03/2008
I've been buying Gevalia for years and wouldn't be without it. No other brand comes close, but then, everyone's taste is different. I did not receive the free coffee maker, so I can't comment, but I've no doubt it's probably a cheaper model being offered as your free gift for joing. There was a different offer at the time that I joined. They have a catalog in which they sell a variety of coffees, teas, coffeemakers, etc. I am considering purchasing one of their more expensive (for me anyway) coffee makers. They offer a 10% discount for club members and free shipping.
nsgrimm 06/09/2008
I really like this coffee, some people complained about the hole to pour the water in to, I was thinking it was going to be a straw like hole, but it's PLENTY big enough. I have no complaints, I ordered my coffee pot and coffee and got it within a week!
naervana 05/04/2008
I've had nearly every brand, designer & grocery, of coffee one could think of, and Gevalia is my favorite to make at home. You can't beat the flavor. The coffee maker is like any other to me. It works fine, a bit slow, but fine (somehow I'd like to think that adds to the process of what makes it taste so good). All coffee pots are bound to have minor water spills sometimes (it's just water!), either while pouring or over-pouring (at least in my case, lol), so *shrug*. We get the 'Signature' & 'Peruvian Organic'. They have so many options when it comes to shipping plans & methods. You can adjust these things with your account online or just phone in. When I phoned in, the lady I spoke with was super friendly & helpful. Every now & again, like every other shipment, you get free gifts, like new mugs, extra filters, new blends, teas, etc, just to try out at no extra cost. What's not to love.
halosangel1975 03/25/2008
Gevalia sucks customer service people are rude and ignorant. have no problem with there product just there people and website. cant even get on to order and on the phone they are less then helpful to see what is going on only that they can help me over the phone which is retarded. they ask why i wanna cancel my service so i tell them and in mid conversation they cut me off and say mam i have canceled your membership as your request is there anything else i can do for you. like hello friken listen. one customer service rep had the nerve to say may ill have to have you refrain from using profanity over the phone. i didnt no friken was a sware word. i told her to go to hell.

Re Gevalia...the copy is medeocre, the coffee maker I rec'd was worse. The first coffee maker I rec'd had a huge hole that allowed water to run over my counter. They sent a replacement. I have used it daily for 3 months. Now it has ceased functioning. The light lights, but it doesn't heat. I phoned customer service and asked for some assistance in trouble shooting the problem. I was told, "Sorry. It's no longer under warranty."
pdxmomto4 02/01/2008
I am disgusted with Gevalia and will NOT refer anyone to try their services. When it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is! I received my free introductory offer for the 2 lbs of coffee and the coffee pot for $14.95. The coffee is good, but way over priced. The coffee pot is poorly designed. I thought, Wow what a pretty elegant coffee pot. It's a peice of crap! Not only does the water spill all down the sides when you pour it into the little hole in the top, but when you pour your coffee into your mug it spills everywhere too! I decided that I really did not want the 2 lbs of coffee every 5 weeks, so put a hold on my account until June 2008. Thinking they wouldn't charge my bank account and send me any coffee until then. Well, they did! It has only been a week since I received my initial package(coffee pot and coffee) and they billed my bank card $31.35 for 2 lbs of coffee that I NEVER ordered nor authorized. I called the customer service line to get a full refund and cancel my account. The lady I talked to kept trying to sell me more stuff - that obviously I did not want, she continued on with her little speel and completely ignored what I was complaining about. Finally she agreed to refund me my money and canceled my account. I really hope I don't have this problem again in another week or so.
Spike65 01/21/2008
People have gifted us this coffee on occasion and it was O.K., but you can do as well or better by grinding whole beans from the supermarket. I think even the Costco (roasted in-store) fresh ground was superior.
egroegart 12/24/2007
I was just wondering if anyone else had the same opinion about the coffee pot as me. I believe the design of the Gevalia pot stinks. It's ridiculous that you have such a tiny hole to pour the water into. I have read all of these reviews and have not seen very many that address this issue. I spill water every time that I make coffee. I called in and asked if I could make a suggestion or a complaint and the girl answering the phone said she had never had anyone complain about this. Does anyone else have a problem with the design of the pot, or is it just me? Thanks.

Have had this service for a few years and have had NO problems ever. I am not a huge coffee drinker, but I love to have it around for guests and parties. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT.
kuttirani 10/01/2007
We got the 2lbs and coffeemaker for 15$. The base of the coffeemaker was chipped and pieces kept breaking off. It works, but I feel like it's rather unsafe. The coffee isn't exceptional, and Starbucks and DD beat it out any day. Even after we canceled, they shipped us 2 more lbs of coffee that we didn't ask for. They said we could keep it for free because of the mistake, but after reading these reviews I'm scrutinizing my credit card bill to make sure they didn't charge me. Horrible!

We were members of Gevalia's regular delivery program for well over 15 years. During that time, the biggest problem we had was an occasional shipment of coffee that we did not order, and being billed for it. They said they sent us a post card to which we were supposed to respond "no" if we didn't want the additional coffee. Probably got trashed. We did NOT like that, and we came to a realization over time that we could buy gourmet coffees at our grocery store for half their price that was just as good. The final straw for Gevalia came when I called customer service to change delivery frequency, and English was not their "default" language. You HAVE to "press one" to get anything in English! I mentioned to the CSR that English should be the default language, and she basically told me to stick my opinion where the sun didn't shine! I cancelled our delivery service then and there, and am now enjoying the savings as well as wider selection of gourmet coffees locally and being able to get them immediately, whenever we want. This selection locally was not available years ago, and we stayed with Gevalia out of (very expensive) habit. Gevalia, "stick your coffee service where the sun doesn't shine", yourself!
Sere 06/13/2007
Their program sucks and their customer service is even worse. I signed up for their program with the free coffee maker and 2 coffees for $14.95. When I received their shipment, it contained only 1 coffee. Ok, so no problem, right? I called their customer service and asked for the other coffee to be shipped. No problem, they said they'd get it right out to me. After a couple weeks, I called again, and they said it had shipped, but I never received. They said they'd send me another shipment. Again, after another two weeks, nothing. So I call and ask for a refund, which they offered to give half back. Great, I thought. Well a full month later, no refund, no coffee. They said it was credited to my visa 4 days after I had originally placed the order (how could that be, since I called for the refund a full month later - if you ask me, it was a bunch of b.s.). So I've called yet again today to ask for the refund. It was never about the money, it's the principal of it all. Their customer service is very nice on the phone, but apparently they are ineffective, because nothing ever happens!

We've never had anything but awesome service with Gevalia. We've been a member of the coffee club for 18 years. We love the coffee. Fast & regular shipments. Great service through Customer Service. On-line works smooth. We've called them twice over the years for replacements coffee makers. One stopped working after quite some time - the other just didn't pump right. They immediately sent us new coffee makers - no charge. I agree it's a little pricey but we enjoy the coffee. We also buy coffee from many other specialty shops & enjoy those also. We live in the middle of the Manistee Ntl. Forest in MI - stores are not right around the corner - Gevalia's been good to us.

I've had a membership with Gevalia for a couple of years and I, for one, have never had any issues with them. Their phone tech support has always very prompt and competent -whether it be concerns with payment issues or any other questions I've had. Their webpage is well-organized and user-friendly. With my membership, I was given a free coffee maker -of which I haven't had any problems with or concerns with the several years I've owned it. The build, quailty, and reliability of the coffee maker appears to be good. I've sampled a variety Gevalia coffees -from Jamaican Blue Mountain to Costa Rican to Colombia...and others. The discrepancy in the tastes and quality of these coffees seems very minute. The quality and taste of each one seems decent -not great or bad but very acceptable. My scientific breakdown of the effects of coffee is as follows: Physiologically, after drinking a cup or two of coffee, my metabolism slows noticeably as does my blood pressure: I feel a lot "hotter" internally and my heart seems like its pumping a lot harder and is noticeably forced to work a lot harder. A caffeine "high" normally accompanies the consumption of coffee -but it is usually minimal. Psychologically I don't understand what is so addictive about feeling slighly more alert and awake. These physical and psychological effects last usually for several hours. I drink coffee purely for taste. When I had my first cup of coffee, a number of years ago, I found the taste to be far superior to Postum or Pero -which I had sampled with a number of times many years ago. That being said, it would be very easy to give up coffee...if I ever wished to.

The coffee is O.K., not great. The coffee maker turns on when I use my blender, and it does this very consistently!! Move the coffee maker to solve problem, poor shielding on processor. Now, the problem, I broke my pot, and reordered another. I sent a check in and they cashed it on Dec. 6. They say they sent out a check on Jan. 4, however it is now Mar. 12 and no check has arrived. When I call and ask for the check number they tell me that for SECURITY REASONS they can not geve it to me. WHAT ON EARTH COULD A CHECK NUMBER HAVE TO DO WITH SECURITY REASONS. GEVALIA CAN NOT ANSWER THIS QUESTION EITHER. My guess is that they are not telling the truth, and have not sent the check out!! I need to call them Apr. 6, to request another check. Then wait 45 days to see if they are lying again!

I like the coffee and manage my shipments by way of their website. It's a little pricey, but I get the coffee I like delivered to my door. However, one day I received a shipment I had no recollection ordering. Turns out it was an automatic shipment that came because I did not send back a postcard sent to me in September. I generally toss all solicitations and often do not even see postcards in the all the general delivery mail I receive. I contacted customer service last night to complain expecting to have to arrange a return shipment and cancellation of my account. Gevalia then told me to keep it as a gift for my trouble. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES.... BEWARE IT IS UNSETTLING TO KNOW THEY JUST SEND YOU STUFF AND BILL YOU WITH WHEN EVERY THEY WANT FOR STUFF YOU DID NOT ORDER WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION..
MSMonof2boys 01/13/2007
The customer service you get from this company really leaves something to be desired! I placed an order on 1/4 and received a confirmation email that same day. On 1/11 when I still hadn't received a shipment or correspondence about when the order would arrive I called customer service. The 1st rep was polite enough but couldn't tell me where my coffe was or when it might arrive. I was finally able to pry a tracking number from her but no reason as to why this information wasn't emailed to me. When I checked the tracking number it said billing info had been received. I immediatly called customer service again and let them know that I'd like to cancel my order. The rep I spoke to said this was not possible because the shipment was in transit. I tried explaining to her that billing information received did not mean the shipment was sent. Finally, I asked to speak with a supervisor who explained that Gevalia takes up to 10 days to process catalog orders. He didn't understand why I should have problem with this or the fact that I was not informed of this policy. Frankly, I am suprised they can continue to do business in this manner and still have customers. I would not order from this company again. I have received this companies coffe as gifts before and it is of good quality. However, there are others out there who have are of equal or better quality who actually seem to value your business and process your order in a timely manner. From now on I think I'll stick with them.

I joined years ago and decided to join again. I sent in $10 in January 06 and never heard a word. They cashed my check in February. I emailed them and the wrote back saying I owed $18 and change from 2004!!! I remember that. I used a debit card over the phone, and rather than letting me know it didn't go through, I got a phone call from a COLLECTION AGENCY!!! Their email back to me said I now owe $8 and change. As far as i was concerned, it was straighted out 2 years ago, but I asked them to send me a statement IMMEDIATELY. Had I not emailed them, I probably would never have had an explanation as to why I never received coffee or a coffee maker!! Nice was to treat people... I will get my coffee elsewhere.

We ordered the $10.00 12 cup CM500 coffeemaker in black, along with the 1st shipment of coffee. We ran water through it and made our 1st batch of coffee. It smelled and tasted like plastic. I called the company and they suggested running a solution of vinegar and water through it which we did several times. We also ran many, many pots of water through it. It still tasted terrrible. I e-mailed them back and they said it was defective and sent me another. The second coffeemaker was just as bad. I e-mailed them again and they said they were sorry it was broken and would send me another. I called the customer service department and explained the coffeemakers were not broken, just made terrible smelling and tasting coffee. They said all they could do was send me another. The third coffeemakers has the same problem. I am not sure what to do at this point. I really don't want to mess with any more of these coffeepmakers. Has anyone else experienced these aweful plastic smelling and tasting coffeemakers? The coffee, however, was very good in our old coffeemaker.
Safetyman 01/01/2006
I have somehow gone through two of the Gevalia CM500 coffee pots in the last 6 months! If the rating could go any lower than one star, that's what it would be for me. The coffee pot looks great! That's where the "good" ends. To get water in the thing you have to use a funnel or have a darn steady hand to hit the little hole provided to pour water into. My second unit died this morning and now I'm going out and buy me another Mr. Coffee; they're quite cheap, they work and when they break you don't feel like you're tossing out a fancy looking coffee maker that don't work anymore. I read the comment by moranj whose CM500 caught on fire and now, I can't get this thing out of the house and into the trash with the cord cut as close to the unit as possible to hopefully prevent someone from picking it up and burning their house down!
Willytexas 12/17/2005
It is strange to read about coffeemakers and programs when the real question is the coffee flavor. IF a person gets in a coffee delivery program because they like the coffeemaker, you are bound to be dissatisfied even if the coffee is good. The likelihood of getting an excellent coffee maker free is as good as finding a wining lottery ticket abandoned in the street. Nothing is free in this life and most registration gifts will not be made in the US or Sweden but in some obscure manufacturing place in Malaysia or Taiwan. That said, I was in the Gevalia program for a few years and found it a great source for tasting different types of coffees from all over the world. Some were very good some were not. At the end, once the attraction of experimentation was gone, you start thinking about the price and find out that it is a bit expensive to keep it up. It is good coffee and worth drinking, but if you have a trusty dedicated coffee store in your neighborhood you will be hard pressed to justify buying Gevalia. A good level of flavor and balance with bitterness, great variety and their special selection program allows you to try a great variety of coffees. High priced though.

I have been very pleased with Gevalia, both the coffee and the company. The only problem I have had is with the web site not letting me in to manage my account. When I call about this none of the service reps seems to be able to help me. But all the service reps I have spoken with are friendly and I have never felt misled by any of them.

Over the weekend my Gevalia CM500 coffeemaker caught on fire. The front of the unit always was warm from day one. If I was not present I would bet my house would of been on fire as well. Gevalia asked if I wanted to replace it, but I am now willing to spend over $100 for one that will not catch fire.

I like the coffee, it's good. I'm not sure what I think of the program tho. Initally it was good, got the coffee I ordered, was billed and sent them a check. I decided to use my credit card to pay for ONE order and on the thing you send back with payment there is a box marked check here to authorize this and all future shipment payments to this card (something to that effect anyway) I DID NOT check that box. now,I assumed without that box checked, I would continue to be billed for my shipments. This didn't happen. Now tell me why they would put that check box there if they are going to auto debit you anyway? Also it seems like now that they have my credit card number I am getting all kinds of shipments I didn't order and of course paying for them via automatic debit I didn't authorize. I'm pretty crabby about it. In a nut shell, the coffee is good, the program sucks...

Until yesterday I have had no problems with the service. I like the coffee and manage my shipments by way of their website. It's a little pricey, but I get the coffee I like delivered to my door. However, yesterday I received a shipment I had no recollection ordering. Turns out it was an automatic shipment that came because I did not send back a postcard sent to me in September. Perhaps my own fault -- I generally toss all solicitations and often do not even see postcards in the all the general delivery mail I receive. I contacted customer service last night to complain expecting to have to arrange a return shipment on my dime (and cancellation of my account). Gevalia first made me a half price offer on the shipment, which I rejected, and then told me to keep it as a gift for my trouble. I'm drinking the coffee now, very good, but not really 'my cup of tea.' I would never reorder it. A sample packet would have been enough. If this happens again I will cancel the service, but otherwise, I am quite pleased. P.S. I purchased from Target a reuseable filter for my automatic (timer) Gevalia coffeemaker which I quite like.

wrong shipment and 6 weeks of phone calls to get it resolved. They still haven't credited me but then it hasn't been their required 2 weeks.

I enjoyed the coffee, but when my carafe for my coffemaker broke and I wrote to customer service, they never responded. Now my coffeemaker is useless, since I cannot find a carafe to fit THEIR coffemaker.

I've never had a problem with service with Gevalia and they do indeed tailor shipments to your preferred schedule. In spite of the very good coffee and fine service however, I have cancelled delivery because I have found eqally good coffe for less money locally. With shipping and handling, which is part of the cost of the coffee, I pay $14. per pound which isn't hard to beat even with some very good gourmet coffee.

All their beans taste like airline coffee. Bland and soft and pretty. They don't know much about taste in coffee. Good mail order enticements but overall charge far too much for very average bean overfine grinding.

The coffee is up there the best, but the price is way too high. The coffeemaker(12 cup CM500)is a product you must keep away from!12 cups of water produces 6 cups of non drinkable weed killer, the other 6 cups go up in steam! Keep the children away from this piece of garbage!Replacement promisses go into deaf ears!Maybe they will listen to the Product Safety Commission!
