Stirling Bridge (Braveheart) 3

I love the battle but must reduce it to a three because there is no bridge! The bridge was key to the victory.

A great scene, even without the bridge, it's one of the most emotionally powerful scenes in movie history. The Scots fight against the odds and beat the English. However, in reality, the win/loss ration was not that great for the Scots, and in the end, they were beaten for good at Culloden in the 18th century. I applaud this movie though, it's given me a good appreciation for Scottish history.

Yes, terrific battle scene- but minus 1 star because it was historically inaccurate. . .where the hell was the BRIDGE!?!?!

All the battle scenes in Braveheart were outstanding but Stirling Bridge is the best that was ever shot. The impact as both armys meet could be felt in the theater and the shots were just unbelieveably real.

Gibson took huge liberties with this movie, particularly with this battle. In the movie there's actually no bridge and the British and Scotts battle across a huge field after a fire and brimstone speech delivered by Wallace. Though I absolutely love this movie, the cinematics detract from the real history. The Scots actually ambushed the Brits in a brilliant tactical maneauver as they attempted to pass Sterling bridge- a narrow crossing- and slaughtered them. Yes, but in the end, I still the how many of you would trade this day to that.. for just one chance.. one chance.. to look our enemies in the eyes and tell them... they may take our lives... but they'll never take our FREEDOM! AAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! speech and the scene... so whats a little revisionism here or there...LOL

Although a really stunning visiual achievement, there was NO bridge!!! The English and the Scottish fought at Stirling Bridge, what the hell is wrong with Gibson? Man, that movie is so historically inaccurate, even for Hollywood's standards.
