Recently found Hills at a Meijers grocery store near my home. I bought the Columbian blend and it is very flavorful.

Hills Brothers' basic coffee is bland, but always consistent. Most grocery stores stock it and the price tends to be lower than that of Folger's or Maxwell House.

More institutional coffee, indistiguishable from all the others of its type.

As I remember, it's not as flavorful as other coffees. Maybe that's why I don't get it anymore.

I have paid as much as $30 a pound for varius coffees and they still don't have the great rich taste of H.B. 100% Colombian. If you like a whimpy weak tasting coffee by all means stick with light roast Maxwell House. If you like your coffee slightly stronger but a little more bitter stick with light to medium Folgers. If you like the high acid, very bitter somewhat burned bean taste of Starbucks, do not buy this coffee. This is a rich smooth full bodied coffee with less of a bitter or acidic taste of most fairly dark roast coffees.

I'm a little biased - it's always a little cheaper than Folgers (my first choice for shelf brands) but, more importantly, Hills threw a Badger pep rally in San Francisco when Wisconsin played California back in the 80's, before both schools were rated. Lousy game, but the Anchor Steam Beer at the rally was great!

All my life (49 yrs.) I have been taught if it isn't Hills Brothers it isn't coffee. My mother is 83 yrs old and has drank an average of 20-30 cups(8 oz @) per day and hasn't ever found anything to be as good. My grandmother lived to be over 95 yrs old and loved a good cup of coffee too. All these younger people want that coffee from these little franchises that stink of old burnt bad roasted beans. I would love to work for Hills Bros. and campaign to keep them going forever. So would my children and step-children. Even my grand children like to play at grown-up with the coffee milk (thats three to four table spoons approx. of coffee to 3/4 cup of milk 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and powdered milk mixed for them to add). Serve with homemade biscuits and either jam/marmolade or honey. Nothing like teaching ediquette at an early age. My granddaughter Veronica had at age 3 the idea she had to raise her pinkey like great grand mother Mimi and become a princess and a real lady.

I enjoy Hilss Bros. French Vanilla Cappuccino several times a day, I only wish it came in larger cans like coffee. I've gotten several of my friends enjoying it at work, and our 4 local walmarts seem to run out of it often.

This coffee has been around for years and needs to retire, it has a sharp taste that's too much, plus they sponsor a b-rated driver in NASCAR (Hut Stricklin).

hills bro's coffee is not as original as maxwell house! but it does taste ok, still the cheapy-cheap sour taste of cheaper coffee. oh well. I am really picky when it comes to coffee. I have to have the best of the best. Hills bro's is ok when maxwell house or starbucks aren't on sale, I've never tried starbucks coffee, might give it a try. I do kinda like it with coffemate, coffemate fixes common coffee problems, it makes alot of other icky coffee's taste ok.

In the market of gourmet coffees Hills Brothers probably doesn't stand a chance but I'm not a huge coffee snob so I'm not rating it in that category. I do however appreciate a decent cup of Joe, and was very surprised recently when I was having coffee at a friends house and saw the Hills Brothers can. It was actually pretty decent which really surprised me considering that I had this preconceived notion about coffee from a can as always being bad. I should also note that I tend to add an exceptional amount of both cream and sugar to my coffee, so it's tough to ever have a really bad cup.
