He's a great villain. He commits terrible attrocities and yet you find yourself rooting for him. A villain with a cool demeanor and a brilliant mind is my kind of villain.

I liked that he was cultured. That was a delightful and subtle touch. When in the cage, he was listening to the Goldberg Variations: and not just ANY recording, the original Glenn Gould. Ah, so sweet. He's a soulmate of Alex in Clockwork Orange.

i didn't find this guy menacing or frightening at all. maybe it's Anthony Hopkins and how un-intimidating he looks. i thought the portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in Manhunter was better.

The most intellectual disturbed villian I've ever seen, but not as good as Vader. Hannibal freaked out American audiences because he was so smart and charming yet. . .crazy as hell.

A bravura performance by Hopkins, subtle and menacing and utterly compelling in its appeal. I don't like the movie very much, but this character is superb.

There's something really unappetizing about a canibal - you know? A vampire could put the bite on me and a werewolf rip me to shreds; but I would still think Hannibal the more gross as he poured that last glass of Chianti.
