The Shangri Las is the absolute best girl group of all time. ALL of their songs are perfect; with Mary Weiss and her blazing volcals, and the sweet sounds of the background girls, they are the most amazing of all. You can feel Mary's pain in a ton of the songs. All of the songs are with true heart-felt emotions making the songs real and believable. Which makes it melodrama at it's best.

I don't think so.  Other than "Walking in the Sand", there isn't much else to recommend them.  "The Leader of the Pack" is a teenage death song four years after the genre reached its zenith/nadir (Take your pick).  I prefer the parody of it, "The Leader of the Laundromat" by the Detergents.  As for "You Can Never Go Home Anymore", they achieved a level of melodrama that has been known to cause humans to reflexively gag upon hearing it.  Again, I prefer the Detergent's "You Can Never Eat Home Anymore" even though I've never heard it. The title tells me enough.

There should be considered, after the Ronettes. One of the top and toughest Girl Groups of the '60s. Sophisticated Boom Boom, in deed.

Best and most original girl group ever

guilty pleasure, but if the Supremes and the Shirelles are in...why not?

Excellent girl group, made a powerful Motown sounding song that should have been a top ten hit.
