Unarguably the most influential of all the disco groups. Baffled why they didn't go in their first year of eligibility. Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards were unparallelled geniuses.UPDATE: 4th STRAIGHT year turned down--what a JOKE. Keep trying, please, KEEP TRYING---you'll make it soon!

Here's the problem...you say they're not R&R but you've put plenty of artists in who you could say the same about...and they were influential, no doubt. They were on the ballot this year so it'll be soon I think.

Read my review of Donna Summer to see why disco is a form of rock. Like it or not, disco was THE form of rock in the late 70's, despite what white people will tell you.Besides that, Chic were most definitely the greatest disco band, had two of the top ten disco songs ever ("Le Freak", "Good Times", which was sampled for "Rapper's Delight", and had its bassline ripped off by Queen in "Another One Bites The Dust"), and one of the most respected producers ever in Nile Rodgers. Currently one of the Hall's biggest omissions.

Disco. Enough said. Only Nile Rodgers' influence is a plus.

Another bad disco endeavour, why are they even listed here. Nothing about Chic was Rock n Roll

Maybe only because they wrote the back track for Rappers Delight.

Chic is definitely in the Urban music Hall Of Fame. They were the best, technical, musically proficient band in the Disco scene with the exception of the Bee Gees. Also the production work of Nile Rodgers with David Bowie and others is superb. Not rock and roll but they should be highly regarded in the whole pop music community.
