According to the unwelcome analysis of my own handwriting that once happened, I'm an ill-tempered, hedonistic, arrogant jerk.Obviously this graphology stuff is fraudulent.

Every time they look at mine they tell me I belong in a mental health facility...

Besides acupuncture, this is the one item here that really does have empirical value-though it's more of an art than a science. You certainly can't change your personality by changing handwriting styles. Handwriting is more like body language-it is an unconscious display of cultural background, personality and emotional states. Handwriting analysis has been used, quite effectively, as a method of personality analysis. The most accessible book on the subject is Huntington Hartford's You Are What You Write.

It has a use to prove documents, but otherwise it is hokum.

Yeah, like Enkidu, I think there could be something to personality determining things about handwriting. But this wacky idea that changing handwriting can aid in curing personality problems is pretty far fetched. Yet, there are actually people who buy into it. Goes to show you that you can sit around and dream up anything and if you can find the right set of loony tunes there's a market for it.

I think there is something to this one, though I'm no expert. Probably all of us have encountered similar people with more-or-less similar handwriting styles, and wondered if there was an underlying principle. The really goofy part of graphology for me though is the science of curing psychological or physical ills by *changing* one's writing to be more like the healthy character you desire to be.
