I have many EO's that I use regularly, and find to be helpful, although you should be careful to use only pure ones. There are many products out now that claim to be aromatheraputic which do not contain so much as one drop of pure oil!

Fido, my dog, gives me aromatherapy when he wants to go out to relieve himself.

Stinks the least of most of the stuff on this list, although it does smell.

certain smells can be relaxing. there are aromas that are pleasant. never known them to actually heal me. but nothing bad about having some nice aromas around.

I can't take this completely seriously as a true medical treatment. However, I do think it has some merit as far as relaxation goes when combined with soft lighting, music, a massage or a nice hot bath.

Personally, I've always liked the theory that if it smells like sh!t, it probably is. I am well aware that scent is the primary trigger to memory. There is substantive research to that end. That doesn't mean aromatherapy isn't a pile of sweet smelling crap.

This can be useful but it's scope is limited. It is a gentle adjunct to healing and alleviating some forms of depression, anxiety etc. If you pick up a good, authoritative book on the subject, you will see that it is based on valid principles-the brain is VERY affected by what is inhaled through the nose. However, too many businesses have jumped on the aromatherapy bandwagon-putting out products scented with synthetic chemical scents that do more harm than good.Oils used by true aromatherapists are often very expensive since they must be carefully processed from natural sources-and free of pesticides and other harmful substances.
