Southside Johnny (real name John Lyon, born December 4, 1948 in Neptune, New Jersey) is an American singer-songwriter who usually fronts his band Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes.

Fantastic band from Jersey. Hearts of Stone. Poor Man's Springsteen (which is not a bad thing to be) Gave "Miami" Steve his start long before Tony Soprano.

Southside Johnny has the greatest 'whiskey voice' of all time...He can take any song and make it his own..ie: Havin' a Party and Walk Away Renee...Without a doubt, he belongs in the Hall of Fame

While The Asbury Jukes personnel has changed greatly over the years, and there are way too many 'Jukes' to consider for the HOF, Southside should definitely be there. Southside always puts on a great show, and his current line-up is the best ever. Southside, who along with his Lead Guitarist, Bobby Bandiera (an incredibly talented singer songwriter and Clapton-like guitarist), generate the passion and power of Rock and Blues as it should be. If only commercial radio would open their ears the SSJ & the Jukes would have been in the HOF a long time ago.

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes are one of the greatest live bands ever. They are so important to a certain type of R&B that the fact of the matter is without Southside Johnny they'd be no Bruce.
