Going to the wrong chiropractor can be very harmful. They can do damage that a person might have to live with for the rest of their life. But I must say that I have gone to a few chiropractors, and most of them have done a very good job. I have had neck pain and back pain, and have gotten fast relief. So I give them a four. But go to a regular MD, and try to get them to refer you to a chiropractor, and nine times out of ten they won't do it because they don't believe they're competent.

If you've got back problems, I'm sure they can help a bit. But they ones that claim they can fix a sprained knee or make your headache go away by cracking some things in your back are nuts.

Quackery to the highest degree. Completely unscientific. Please go to a physical therapist at a fraction of the costs of constant chiropractic treatment. A massage always make you feel better, temporarily.

Quacks.I get ugly looks when I say that. . but chiros are borderline therapists for chicks with sleeping disorders who want someone else to complain to. . .Spare me the hate-mail. . .yes, I know some people benefit from this but I'll chalk that up to massage and tension. . .chiros are overrated in the main. . .

Chiropractic has been given a bad name lately by a bunch of quacks who claim they can heal diseases that have nothing to do with your spine or bones. Your spine can get out of alignment, and these folks can help. My grandmother was a chiropractor for 45 years, and she never once fell for the crap that some are practicing today. I have had hundreds of adjustments to my spine and have never had a back of neck problem.

Lots of quacks in this field, but a good chiroprator can help alleviate back-related pains. Make sure to have a good reference though.

One of my grandmothers swore by them. She had been hurt in a car accident when she was young which did something to her neck and spine. She was in constant pain until a chiroprator adjustment. If it really works for you it certainly beats possibly addictive pain meds.

I wouldn't rate this as pseudomedicine, but that's just me. I go to the chiropractor every three months or so, and I'm always amazed at how much better I feel afterwords. I would ask people who've been for a recommendations, though, as not all are created equal.

To practice this takes years of hard work and school. Many people swear by it,but like anything else-there are problems it will and won't solve.

Does seem to have some effect in dealing with immediate unease or pain. Long term, however, it doesn't seem to have much effect in eliminating a problem.

Although I don't make it a practice to regularly visit the chiropractor, I do find what they do to be rather helpful in releving a sore neck or back. I actually have a friend who used to be on pain killers for a terrible back problem he had but then he started visiting one of these guys and it helped significantly. At least it's worth a try...

I have about the same expierience as Enkidu, I have only bene once, when I was young. My mom went a couple of times when I was young and had me go. We, however, used them only for back problems. I woke up one morning with a terrible crick in my neck, he mashed it with his elbow, and I was good as new.

Here's one that I have seen help a lot of people, though I have never gone myself. I think their theory is a little weird, that all diseases have some root cause in the back, but they can fix a fair amount of physical problems. Beware chiropractors that are retired piano movers though.
