 | guycmt (0) 09/06/2008 | I guess if I was in death valley and on the show fear factor for 10k I would have to drink it but.....Yes I have and I have been to cuppings with the worlds finest coffees (starbucks did not even make the grade to be included) but I did compare them to starbucks and could see that under the above circumstances any one could train their pallet.
Have you ever been to a slaughter house and seen the long lines of cows going in? One cow follows the other (the most popular) so they think they are getting something good. be smarter people they got beat 6 out of 6 test by McDonalds. And they were beat by Yuban. wakee wakee and go smell some real coffee at a local coffee house its generally fresher and better for the place you live. dont believe me taste them side by side un-cupped with an open pallet. and if you can think for yourself you will find that you are smarter than a heifer led to slaughter. -5 stars for community, -5 stars for coffee, -5 stars for predatory marketing, -5 stars for what they do to family owned shops, -5 stars for originality, +25 stars for convincing the masses that Crapaccinos are a real drink. so thats a total of a BIG ZERO

 | Spike65 (16) 01/21/2008 | One of the best cups of coffee I've every had was one of those institutional sized machines my sister used at a big gathering I attended a few years ago. I asked her what it was and she said Starbuck's decaf. And she also mentioned you have to use the recommended amount of coffee which is one tablespoon per six ounces of water. It was really tasty. Everyone at the party enjoyed it and it went fast.

 | mylastduchess (0) 08/23/2006 | For ambiance and a place to sit a few moments before heading to work, or a pick me up, Starbuck's mellow atmosphere and smooth jazz music is a reasonable refuge. But for their drinks they're OK, and OVERPRICED. But their new canned iced coffee is actually pretty delicious.

 | MariusQelDroma (37) 12/29/2005 | While they do make decent coffee, expresso drinks, and tea, I have to agree with numbah on the sizing and prices. Being a former barrista, I have a bit of respect for those who can craft a tasty beverage from expresso, steamed milk, and other goodies. In my town, I'd hit Willow House before Starbucks, just because Willow House is privately owned and cares about the customer much more then their comercial cousin.

 | Willytexas (0) 12/17/2005 | High on caffeine content, it would almost seem it is "spiked" to promote mild addiction. A study by a Dallas Texas newspaper found the levels to be orders of magnitude higher than the closest competitor. I guess there are worst things to get addicted too. High levels of bitterness in the flavor if drank by itself, although, that is probably what makes it work so well in the flavored concoctions that they come up with. Their real genius is in the advertising arena, everything even the sizes names are by design. If you are a real coffee connoisseur this will never be rated high, too brute for nuances. If you just seek immediate satisfaction with minimum brain power (not meant to be an insult, simply that it is not required to find deep flavors in it) this is your place.

You can look it up if you want to watch, but the cartoons about "starshmucks" have convinced me that Starbucks is the devil. The sizes of coffee are rigged to play a trick on your brain. You order a tall and you get the smallest cup they offer. HUH? I am not comfortable paying three dollars for "a urine sample size cup of coffee swill!" (credit Foamy on that) COFFEE HOUSE PROPAGANDA NO MORE!

 | edt4 (116) 11/25/2005 | Although I drink a lot of coffee during the course of a day (probably too much), I'm not much of a connoisseur. A cup from Dunkin' Donuts, or WaWa, or a local diner...it pretty much all tastes the same to me. As long as its got caffeine in it, and plenty of that, I'm pretty much ok with it. I tend to avoid patronizing Starbucks for 2 reasons. Number one, I don't want to pay the price of a meal for a lousy cup of coffee. Number two, when I'm hung-over, or just particularly tired, I don't want to have to interpret the menu like an archeologist deciphering hieroglyphics. I just want a lousy cup of black coffee...but they have 30 different exotic names for essentially the same item and 10-20 different cup sizes. Ordering my morning fix of caffeine shouldn't entail so much work and concentration.

 | Flick01 (73) 02/06/2005 | I guess in the eyes of some I am a loser because I do not like the taste of Starbuck's coffee. Just for the record, I am not an instant coffee drinker. My preference is Columbian Supreme which is stronger than a standard roast but incredibly smooth. I find Starbucks to be harsh and it probably has a high acid content as it has a tendency to make my stomach growl. If this is what it takes to join the ranks and get the approvel of the elite liberals then I'll brew a pot of Supreme, add a touch of cinnamon, put a little genuine sugar and half and half in my cup and thank God I'm a conservative. Enjoy your Starbucks my iron stomach friend.

 | Rick Winters (0) 02/06/2005 | LOL -- all you losers that are getting down on Starbucks are probably instant coffee drinkers. Starbucks -- and I have drunk a lot of coffee in my life -- is the best coffee out there -- hands-down. Especially their store-brand available at supermarkets. Keep drinking your Nescafe and Folgers while those of us who appreciate the finer things in life and don't nickel and dime everything enjoy our Starbucks. At their stores, it is made right, it is hot, and delicious -- and at home it is the best store-bought brand and worth every penny.

All-in-all you get what you pay for; a consistantly great product with generally excellent service. Try getting that at McDonalds, Wendy's, or the icky Caribou Coffee.
The fact of the matter is that if you do not like Starbucks - just say the true reason and don't blame it on the coffee with a simplistic reason.

 | 4real (0) 03/11/2004 | Unless you crave a bold brew, I recommend sticking with Breakfast Blend. The other stuff for the most part is a little too hearty for my taste. If I am going to pay four bucks, the taste had better be smooth as silk. Seattle's Best is better.

 | Canadian Slant (0) 02/24/2004 | Starbucks is the best coffee I've ever tasted. Yes it's a little pricey, but thinking in terms of value, I'd rather pay 4 bucks for a great latte than 3.25 for one that tastes like it came out of a can. That small difference is an easy choice for me. Also knowing their commitment to purchasing Fair Trade coffee is huge, and I'll pay a little more for that too....and oh yeah I'm addicted...but I don't smoke or drink so I'm allowed a vice like Starbucks.

 | rhino (0) 02/13/2004 | I think its kinda funny for people to complain so much about a product they have the freedom to ignore. Starbucks is the greatest coffee compant in the world, and has been copied over and over agin by competitors. I agree that some of the things Starbucks competitors do, they do better than Starbucks. Its easier to copy than invent. For those of you you look at Starbucks as a big mean Corporation should know that they buy only FAIR TRADE COFFEE, build schools and hospitals in Latin American countries. Why do they do this??? Because they realise that the coffee farmers are vital to thier future success and they take care of them. Starbucks has nearly 7500 stores worldwide and employes over 74,000 people. Part Time partners receive stock options and benefits. Wow what a brutal mean Corporation. Don't like Starbucks fine, don't drink it. I love Starbucks because the coffee is great, the people are great, and the company is great.

 | Molfan (64) 06/13/2003 | If I just want a regular cup of coffee,I would either make my own or go to some quickstop type place where they did not charge a horrible price for the cup. On occasion I like to have a treat and get one of those "fancy" kinds of coffee. as an example carmel with all that foam on top. Starbucks is okay, they offer the same fancy concoctions as other chains such as Beaners. and charge a fancy price for their brews. I only go here once in awhile when I want a treat. Kind of like when I get icecream and splurge for the bananasplit instead of a scoop. Starbucks is not bad but not somewhere i would go on a regular basis.

 | firebasecrosby (0) 03/10/2003 | On September 11th, when many civilians, firefighters and police lay dying and badly burned, a group of firefighters burst into a Starbucks to obtain bottled drinking water for the victims. Starbucks not only wouldn't give them the water, but charged them 88 bucks for a case. I wouldn't drink a cup of Starbucks if you put a gun to my head. The corporate whores that sponsor this sort of unfeeling facism don't deserve my money- I'll drink something local or Fair Trade supported instead.

 | ilovestarbucks (0) 03/03/2003 | I think it is unfair to complain about the price of something someone voluntarily purchases EVERY DAY. Before I worked for Starbucks, I maybe went there 2 times. I couldn't afford it, and I knew it. Whenever I stop working at Starbucks (which I've been there for six years and counting), I will make adjustments according to what I can afford. The baristas I have trained have made it their business and their passion to make sure every customer is 110% satisfied, every time. And if someone isn't happy, we will make you happy, because we want you to come back. For those of you non-believers, please believe this...the partners at my store are doing everything we can to keep you coming back. And don't be embarassed if we know your kids' names...that's actually pretty cool, if you think about it. It's like having a neighbor who makes your coffee and gives your kid a sticker just for being adorable.

 | duayned (0) 01/21/2003 | Starbucks has remained one of the consistently best fresh consumer products in existence. I've tasted coffee in several European countries and from every restaurant chain in the U.S., not to mention some very upscale establishments. I've consumed enough New York deli "coffee" to float a battleship. Some of Starbucks varieties I like much better than others, but if you truly like hot, fresh tasty coffee with some kick to it, this is still the best place to get it.

 | kelly7655 (0) 11/28/2002 | I am a Starbucks addict. There are about eight Starbuck's stores within two miles of my house (almost all of them have a drive through). I think the coffee is great (I get mine with no cream), it sure wakes you up! But my true obsession is the Gingerbread Latte, Eggnog Latte and White Chocolate Mocha. I dare to think how much money I have spent at starbucks in the last 7 years. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because of the price. Four dollars for a latte? Whoaaa. I have cut down a lot (I get a latte about once per week), but still. In my Starbucks addict days, I went through the drive through all the time. The workers knew my child by name.Pretty sad.

 | doctor_dread (0) 08/19/2002 | For those who think carrying a paper cup with a Starbucks logo stamped on it is "status", you should really contemplate YOUR purpose. I'm so tired of hearing people whine about the price of this coffee and the perceived "high-browedness" of its drinkers. I've tried them all; it wasn't until I had my first cup of Starbucks in 1980-something that I really appreciated coffee for what it was. (OK. A little coffee shop I discovered in Berkeley in 1976 set the stage for my appreciation.) I don't drink coffee for caffeine or to keep me charged. I drink it because I enjoy the taste. Starbucks was the first coffee shop I discovered that attempted to educate its consumers about what they taste when they engage in a cup of coffee or espresso. I find Starbucks coffees to be a reasonably priced, consistent-quality indulgence. Although the decor of the environment is somewhat monotonous and commercial, the product is great. If you can't afford it, then go elsewhere. If you prefer Folgers, McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts or Sanka, then simply keep out. Starbucks, they hate you because you're beautiful and successful!
