 | InfiniteUniverse (0) 02/02/2008 | I have owned my PSP since the actual day it came out on the market. It still performs like new, even the buttons and controls work like new. And that is 100's of hours later. The only issue I have is the typical long wait time for most games to load, as compared to a DS, but when you realize the quality of the game in such a small package, I think that is understandable.
One of the many great features of the PSP is that you can turn it off at any time, and when you turn it back on, it resumes exactly where you left it without waiting for it to load.
The PSP does a great job as a portable video player, too. Using Xcopy PSP, I have transferred lots of movies to the PSP.

 | AndrewJM (1) 08/27/2007 | I adore my PSP. It does everything I could ever ask of a portable system. I can put music it on it, I can save e-books or manga, I can watch videos, you can even browse the web in what is actually a really nice browser and text input system. I read one complaint about the screen size, the PSP has the largest screen ever of any portable device. If you want to watch a movie on something larger than you are not reviewing the product, you are stating your preference. For a portable game device is has the best screen barn none.
The games are great. From awesome puzzle games like Lumines to unique mindless sidescrollers like Loco Roco. There is every game genre you would expect for a PS1 or PS2. Fighting, RPG, FPS, its all there. While the idea that UMD's would be good for watching movies was an obvious failure on Sony's part the system itself is sound. And the games are great.
DS has its own merits but for my money the PSP is better. While I like mindless games as much as the next person, I don't want my only options to be mindless. Being able to get RPG's with real depth is nice.

 | Jamie McBain (43) 07/22/2007 | Tried playing on the PSP, that was on display at a store, and found it not to be all that great. And with it's screen size, you could barely watch any of the movies, that had out for it.
I would rather play on the PS2 or X Box, for that matter.

 | soonotwt (0) 06/10/2007 | I bought this when it first came out thinking it would be awsome, but it really had me fooled. I honestly have taken this thing out like 5 times since i purchased it. There are barely any games for it, and the ones that are out are nothing worth anyones time. The screen always has a glare as well, it's like a mirror, you can see yourself in the screen and its a little distracting. If you dont use this for like a week and then come back to it, the battery is dead. As you can see there are way to many negatives, so my advice would be to not get one.

 | SpartanPride (20) 02/25/2007 | I like Pie has it right, too complex games for a handheld.

 | ILikePie (48) 02/09/2007 | Game-wise, probably the poorest handheld console ever to exist. Only having one analogue stick means the controls and camera angles on most of the games are absolutely terrible. Most of the PSP games are just diluted and inferior versions of the PS2 games. If it wasn't for the added features (e.g. internet and MP3), the PSP would be getting one star.

 | MomsandpopscallmeJoe (10) 02/09/2007 | If ya dont have a iPod get this, but I'd still rather have a Nitendo DS. The DS has more games to choose from, while the PSP has a bunch of watered down ports of their ps2 games. Plus for a portable system it looks kinda big and klunky.

 | AmishGramish (0) 12/20/2006 | This is the best handheld console on the market today.
There are consistently more great games for the PSP than the DS, including Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Lumines II, Killzone: Liberation, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Rainbow Six: Vegas, and more, compared to the DS's FFIII, which Crisis Core: FFVII and FF Tactics Advanced are both coming to the PSP.

 | NekoFaust (1) 01/18/2006 | No,I haven't played one before.
From what I hear, and from a previous rating, the PSP has a huge problem with dead pixels.
Also,it's apparently very fragile.
Until I play one,my rating will stand as neutral.

 | andrewmc (0) 12/26/2005 | Not very many worthwile games and a very big dead pixel problem. Honestly, who wants to buy a brand new product $200+ and have the display be defective? As for the games there have been a few that looked good when they were announced but they scored very low ratings in reviews. You also have to buy very expensive memory cards. Not worth it if you ask me.

 | xproject421 (1) 12/24/2005 | I have had mine since the day it was released in the US. The movies look great. The sound is a decent but I do recommend getting either of the external speakers from Logitech if you want better sound. I love the games that I have played (Infected, GTA: LCS, Twisted Metal, Untold Legends). I have messed with the Homebrew a little bit but they only thing I liked was the Emulators. The web browser is nice although I wish the cache size could be bigger then 2 MB. I would definitely recommend this over s DS any day. Enjoy!

 | SpecialboothvicJr. (10) 09/24/2005 | i really haven't played muchof one but my brother's friend let me try one and it was pretty cool. The fact that it is an mp3 player and can play movies gives it a 5.

 | thundermax (0) 09/10/2005 | Best Handheld game system in my experience. The games that I have played for is are intuitive and easy to learn. I have been addicted to MLB and have played it non-stop since I got the PSP. I have enjoyed the PSP's versatility and battery life. The idea of having adjustable screen brightness and sleep mode were well thought out and add to the overall impressive experience.
