Sin City 5

This is still my favorite movie since it came out. I enjoyed watching the controlled chaos going on in Basin City. I think the crew did a really good job in making this film and portraying that feeling of constant chaos. The characters were distinctive and memorable.
I loved the subtle artistic touches that were put in to make it more interesting. Like in the alley shootout scene, the sky turned red in order to give the scene more intensity. Sin City has lots of things like that in it.
I loved it.
After I watched this film, I was pumped. I got that good movie feeling from it like I am so glad I took the time out to witness this great work of art. Not many films have that affect on me but this one did.

Sin City 5

I actually went out to see this opening night which is something I rarely do. I wasn't bored once during the movie because the visuals were simply stunning and the characters were also enjoyable (especially Marv). I read the books after seeing this flick and was surprised to see how faithful the directors were to the book. I mean every scene almost matched the comic flawlessly with the exception of a few pieces of nudity but that's forgivable. The ending was predictable because you probably read the book which is also why the whole thing was in Black and white. As for giving serial killers new ideas; anyone that has ever watched a Bugs Bunny cartoon has to have fantasized about hanging someone's head on the wall at least once. One last thing. It's funny that Canadasucks accuses it of trying to be "Tarantino-edgy" since Tarantino was the guest director. 'nuff said punk asses!

Looks great but short on substance. . .it wants to be Tarantino-edgy but falls short. . .some good sequences are cancelled out by some ridiculous parts. . .uneven, but not a failure.

Sin City 5

Best movie ever! I especially liked the violence, the dancers (Jessica Alba gives me tingly feelings), and the hookers with guns. I also liked the black and white with splashes of color. If the violence or the message grinds your gears, tough. Its brilliant movie making!

Sin City 1

This movie was deplorable in every aspect! From the slow boring beginning to the overly predictable ending, I could barely sit still through this movie. As tempted as I was to fastforward through the entire thing, I FORCED myself to sit through it in order to give it a fair rating. Granted, the movie producers were going for a black and white effect. Something classy. Memories from an archaic past. Blah blah blah. And this is the only reason why it got 1 star. No, that's not right. It's because I couldn't give it a BIG FAT 0!!! The violence in the movie was uncalled for. Even I felt sorry for those women in the movie and my wife had to leave the room because she was so offended. Thank God my daughters weren't home the night I chose to watch it. How somebody could write up such a ghastly horror wannabe flick is beyond me. It sure felt like a horror, only a cheaper, gross-out scale. Bravo to the producers/writers for giving more serial killers out there ideas on how to murder women. Now we have crazy men portrayed in such acts as hanging women's heads on walls as mantels and eating the live flesh from their fingers and forcing them to watch it being done. Enough said. This was absolute crap! Don't waste your time! I won't even mention the acting because there was not much of it to comment on.

Sin City 3

This movie scores points in presentation. Great move to go with black-and-white which really made the violence ( which there as a lot of) more palatable. Rough, violenet storyline that was told in an interesting format. This was really a collection of stories put toegther as one. The distubing violence and mature content made it tough to take/relate to.

Sin City 4

Sin City is almost like three movies - two of which are very, very good, and one that doesn't quite measure up. As Kamylienne mentions, the movie is extremely artistic, and possibly one of the more violent movies I have ever seen. Mickey Rourke is absoulutely fantastic, and Bruce Willis, Elijah Wood, and the incomparable Jessica Alba are all pretty good as well. You don't have to be familiar with the comic book to enjoy it - but you do have to be prepared for some gory violence. Worth seeing for the cinematography alone - Sin City is a dark, creative comic book on the big screen.

Sin City 4

Excellent film. A brilliant piece of artwork, it had every bit the feel of a comic book (even down to the cheesy lines; yeah, the dialogue and acting was dry, but well, what do you want, it's based on a comic book, and from what I understand it's a very faithful representation of the comic). Based on Frank Miller's Sin City, it's a very violent, graphic world that revolves around corrupt city officials, cops and even clergy, the girls of Old Towne and three men, with three stories, who risk everything to protect the girls they care about. Excellent use of black and white imagery with just occasional dashes of color for emphasis, the scenery is excellent. Elijah Wood plays one incredibly demented and freaky bad guy (certainly a long way from being the little hobbit from the Shire). Warning: extreme graphic violence (they've got a thing with beheading, ahem, in many ways) and nudity. If you're seeking an uplifting story of human redemption, this ain't it. Not recommended for the faint-of-heart, but, it is an excellent piece of art, worth watching if you can stomach it.
