06/12/2008 | At his best, brilliant, maybe the best ever. At his worst stilted and about average. On the full body of his work as a director, he's a 4.5, but on this list he should be at or near the top. If you knock out the crap and look at stuff like Citizen Kane, the Magnificent Andersons, Macbeth, Badge of Evil, etc. no one can touch him.
