George Carlin weighs in about social security reform in his new rules for 2008.

"New Rule: Stop screwing with old people. Target is introducing a redesigned pill bottle that's square, with a bigger label. And the top is now the bottom. And by the time grandpa figures out how to open it, his ass will be in the morgue. Congratulations, Target, you just solved the Social Security crisis."

Quite obviously worrying is not an important issue. I don't know when it was decided that Social Security taxes didn't have to be paid after one earned $90k, but if we even indexed for inflation back to that date a lot would be accomplished. Medicare is in real trouble. There is time to fix Social Security.

Canadasucks is, of course, right here. Why cannot the two sides agree to study this? What is so tough. Selling the American people that Social Security is not in crisis? Stupid. It is in crisis. But there will be no discussion on this topic as Bush has failed miserably to articulate any sort of reasoned approach which might even wind up IMPROVING the system and democrats (with their willing accomplices in the liberal part of the press-CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, LA Times, PBS, etc., etc.) have hijacked the discussion and convinced many very ill-informed people, that reform here IS NOT NECESSARY! It's ok not to expect fiscal responsibility from your government?! Don't expect a dime from the thousands of dollars you have ALREADY CONTRIBUTED !!! to Social Security? Governmental incompetence at its worst, both sides. Did somebody win here?

It will either be (1) gone or (2) stolen by Enron-like crooks who Bush wants to put in charge of 'personal accounts'. Sure. . .big business has a great track record of taking care of working Americans. Glad I've got everything in other investments away from dubya's sticky hands. . .anyone who can't put together a coherent sentence off-script can possibly have the answer to the Social Security problem.
