He was a Chippewa from Minnesota who as a founder of AIM. Along with Russell Means he participated in the Wounded Knee occupation in South Dakota and then was conviced of riot also in South Dakota. He fled after conviction and hid out in California. Governor Jerry Brown gave him protection. He finally surrendered and served his time in the 1980's. He has faded from sight as opposed to Means, who has grown in stature.
