A cinematic classic. Here was Charlie Chaplin criticizing the Nazi regime before it was popular to do so and before it was seen as a threat. In many ways, it was prophetic, for it portrayed Hitler as someone with totalitarian and expansionist tendencies. At the end of the day, Chaplin managed to turn Hitler into an object of ridicule, something which the actual Fuhrer didn't take too well to.

The first film where Chaplin spoke. . .he mocks Hitler's tyranny before it was trendy in the media to do so. . .underrated piece of cinema.

Easily one of the greatest -and most daring- films ever made. Chaplain began filming in 1937, when the allies were buddies with Hitler's Germany. It just tickles me to think that Hitler sat and watched this while he was planning his real-life world takeover. It was, of course, banned in some counrties until the mid-70s.
