He was Sitting Bull's second at Little Big Horn and considered by many to be the architect of Custer's defeat. He was a Sioux or Lakota Indian. He fled with Sitting Bull to Canada after Little Big Horn but surrendered and lived as a farmer on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North and South Dakota. He was a strong opponent of the Ghost Dance movement and considered the Ghost Dancers frauds and cowards. This caused his break with Sitting Bull who associated himself with the Ghost Dancers.
