This is one of the great classics of JC and appears on his Bitter Tears: Ballads of the American Indian album. Peter LaFarge wrote it. It is a tear-jerker when you have have a few and you listen to it. I saw Cash perform it in a concert on an Indian Reservation many decades ago. That was special.
