10/05/2001 | Stephen Sondheim did the lyrics. That automatically means that it's got some clever lines in it. The music is great. "Gypsy" is full of humor and culture. Minus a star because I lost the story at times- the plot seemed, I dunno... uneven. It's the story of an overly-ambitious mother who gets both of her daughters involved in show business, and it takes off from there. Lots of ups and downs in the story, and I guess that's pretty realistic. The "You Gotta Get A Gimmick" scene is always funny. And it's interesting in the end when the mother lets out all her despair. A good show.
