So surprisingly enough, one of the best sushi places (best being high quality of fish at a moderate price) I've been to in San Francisco so far was in North Beach (the Italian neighborhood :P) A friend took me to Sushi Hunter last night and I was extremely impressed. The quality of the fish was quite good for the price, and the offerings they had in specialty rolls were unique. Generally speaking I'm less a fan of rolls because I prefer sushi nigiri and sashimi, but one roll I tried here was the best of both worlds. Called the caveman roll, it was an unagi roll topped with salmon and tuna, and it was absolutely delicious. I also had Toro and Saba...both were fresh and tasted exquisite. They offered us complimentary ddamame and the staff was friendly and attentive. The ambiance was more for parties or families, not that it was loud, just that it was bright and colorful. Definitely check it out if you're hungry for sushi. Yum.
