Takara has the best Udon I've had in San Francisco, by far. I haven't tried the sushi yet, but I'll definitely be back to check it out. I tried the Tempura Udon, specifically, and it was perfectly seasoned and filled with delicious tempura veggies and a piece of shrimp to top it off. We also tried the boiled tofu which came with cabbage, radishes and a deliciously rich soy and ginger based sauce. My friend had the Shio Ramen and he said it was as close to authentic as he has had stateside (he spent a year living in Japan).Sticking with soup, the meal was quite cheap. The sushi prices seem moderate in the context of Japantown, and the people at the table next to us were raving about it.
