08/10/2005 | At first glance, New Deli's real classy as far as Indian restaurants go. Service begins with a smile and joke but drastically tails off after the food is delivered. There are people hanging out but only one guy takes orders for the whole place, and we sat with empty plates and drinks for a half hour before someone came over to clean them and ask if we wanted anything else. Food was poor. One person ordered a chicken dish for $12, which was basically soup with two bite-sized peices of chicken. I order this meat schmorgazborg which was very dry and poor in taste. Bill Clinton ate there, which is why my counterparts chose it Friday night over local favorite Naan Curry in the Haight. Thanks Bill - eat somewhere better next time.
